There is no security issue. There are no jihadists in Bangladesh despite what our Prime Minister might lie about. That lie is now coming home to roost...Aussies think there is a threat. First of all, Australia is too minor a player to have any intelligence presence in Bangladesh. Besides the US and India, I highly doubt anyone has any intel inside the country. So the Aussie alert is nonsense. There are jihadists in India, and if one attacked the Aussie High Commission in Delhi, the next day, a full strength Australia squad would be playing a match at the Kotla. Money talks and Bangladesh bring very little.

Dale Steyn recently played soccer out on the streets, and we haven't had any problems with any tours.

The situation late in 2013 and 2014 was slightly dicey, but even then foreigners were never in any danger. No one is going to mistake Mitchell Starc or Morne Morkel for being a member of the opposition party.

My gut is that this tour will go through once the CA realizes that Bangladesh really is one of the safest (no place is 100% safe) places in the world to tour.

Bavuma, Bangladesh may not have depth, but we don't need it either. We have the best win-loss record of all teams after the WC without playing any minnows.

I think the Aussies are scared of BD on the field rather than BD off the field

Yes, but jokes aside, things seem to have taken a turn for the worst. An Italian NGO worker was shot and killed in Dhaka on Monday and ISIS has claimed responsibility. If this is true, Bangladesh could possibly go the way of Pakistan. If the Aussies pull out, you can add England and NZ to the list as well. The BCB better start looking into hosting those 3 countries in a neutral venue (UAE/Sri Lanka) perhaps. Hopefully this serves as a wakeup call to the retroactive BCB. I think the BCB was getting complacent with all the success they've had on and off the field.

How the fuck ISIS got into the country I still don't know. But I can tell you one thing, we never had jihadists until the BD government turned radically secular a couple of years ago and then stole the 2014 elections.

It is pretty hard to keep the jihadis out all together. Ideas don't get stopped at the border.

Yeah but from Pakistan to Morocco there is a continuous stretch of Muslim nations. Bangladesh is like a Muslim Island surrounded by non Muslim states. So its much harder for ISIS or anyone else to just swim over.

And most Jihadis are a little hypocritcal in the way they hate the west, but would rather choose a country in the west over a nation like Bangladesh.

They want to feed of our kindness when it suits them. I really hate them.
Normal muslim people have to stand up to them more. They dont agree with them but i think they are too sympathetic to certain aspects of their cause on a whole to really stand up against them.

Well looks like the tour is pretty much cancelled. Australian players have been sent to their respective states to train for the new season.

Muslims make up 99% of the casualties of jihadi terrorism given its our countries and we're on front lines from places like Iraq to Pakistan. I think that should count as standing up.

What would help though is the realization from the right wing, conservative factions in the West that they can help out the moderate Muslims around the world. Not invading countries that had nothing to do with 9-11 would help. Not killing 200,000 mostly Muslim civilians might convince us that the West wants peace and not just economic access. Mediating even-handedly between the Israelis and the Palestinianss would help. Heeding global advice and not creating power vacuums for ISIS to fill via ill-thought-out invasions would also be appreciated.

You are right about the 99% thing.

It just feels to me that muslims go more berserk when things like the Danish cartoons happened to the whole ISIS or terrorist threat.

I mean I never hear about mass protests and riots in the street against groups like ISIS.
I guarantee that would happen if say KKK revved up in its pre David Duke led form. West wouldnt let it slide.
