BPL will start on Nov 22. There will be a player draft on Oct 26 although I think foreign players can negotiate directly with franchises for bigger contracts. Will be mostly Pakistani players, with second tier professionals from England/Australia. 5 Zim players have been listed but I think that includes Taylor and Sean ervine.

I think more players will be added as the time nears.

Mentioned the rise of Bangladesh in the rankings over in the Zim match thread, but I notice that if Pakistan sweep England in their current ODI series, it'll put Bangladesh above England and into 6th. The rise out of minnow-dom continues...

Englad have won and even if they lose the series 3-1, they will retain 6th, with both BD and Eng on 97 points. We only have 3 ODIs scheduled for all pf next year, home vs Eng, and who knows what the security situation will be like now. But with the ICC rankings getting updated in May we will pass England for sure, possible SL as well.

But as BRMT has mentioned, the real coming of age will be if we win a World Cup or when we start winning Tests. I think both are possible with the current core we have. I disagree that we have to win a Test in Aus or Eng as even Pak, Ind, SL have rarely won Tests there.

How can BD handle Nasir Hossain and Liton Das better so that they don't end up getting a Matsikenyeri and a Sibanda out of them? Those two are definitely supremely talented in my view...

They have senior players and a good caichimgcoac team around them which should help them evolve into good players IMO .......

Daw has work to do on his leg side game. Not ready for one day cricket IMO. But as a Test bat, don't see why he can't bat at 7 and Toni a few towards the end.

Nasir averages 35Ish in both formats, don't see any reason to be alarmed with his form. He outgunned Williams and Ervine recently, so I Think comparisons to Matsi or Sibanda are asanine at this point. But I think we learned that Nasir isn't a guy who can come in in the 47th over and score 15 from 8, which Sabbir probably can.

Most of the current group is IMO of suitable quality. The fact that we play 70% of our games at home, I think we can even attain the #1 rank in ODIs in the near future. We have a lineup that should contend for the 2019 and 2023 world cups. In Tests, our realistic objective should be to get past the West Indies and Sri Lanka and NZ once their current group retires, which won't be for a while. Maybe Pakistan too depending on what kind of talent thet can assemble. So getting to 6th in Tests is a feasible aim for us.

Our relative youth is the most promising factor, with an average team age of about 25 with our oldest head, Shakib only being 28. He doesnt have the strongest work ethic or fitness, but he's stated his objective of hanging around till the 2023 world cup at least, which is another 7 plus years. Mushy has a tremendous work ethic and I expect him to kick on till he's 40. Mominul has already gone on record stating he expects to play till his 40th birthday. So I expect these guys to carry on for most of the next decade at the minimum.

After a successful Asia Cup we now head to the Wt20 to see what we've learned. Toughest factor is going to be acclimating to the reduced Oxygen tension in Dharamsala which is 1400 meters. By comparison Dhaka and most of BD is just a couple of meters above sea level. With the other sides in the group there a few days earlier, they will have modified their hemoglobin a bit more than we have.

Unbelievable news! Taskin reported for chucking. I am enraged. No way to prove it of course, but my personal belief is that this is in response to the viral image of Taskin holding MS Dhoni's severed head. The timing and circumstance is extremely coincidental.
