That was total brain fade from BD of epic proportions. Even makes some of Zim's worst moments look good. No way any team should have lost from that position. But yes, Mahmudullah has done a lot recently, so can't blame him much for this. Mushfiq is out of form badly.

Anyway, the most talked about things of this WC so far for me - the two run outs of Hamilton and the two stunning catches by Soumya Sarkar...

Yeah I think South Africa and Zimbabwe couldn't even top that epic choke job. IMO, its part of the learning curve...I am not overly concerned or pissed. I look at it like a breakup with a girl: takes 15 minutes to get over.

BD cricket in dire straits after the terrorist attacks in Dhaka that killed 20 people, mostly foreigners. The England tour is sure to be cancelled now, and who can blame them?

The BCB is also probably not wealthy enough to find an alternate home venue like the PCB has, although if they did my bet would be on using some secondary Sri Lankan venues.

Another big blow for Bangladesh.

Mustafizur will be having surgery on his bowling shoulder on Thursday in London. He is expected to be out for at least 6 months meaning he will miss the England series if it isn't cancelled already, the tour to NZ, and possibly the tour of India.

Devastating news.

That is sad, the top teams were getting wary of him.

We have roped in Courtney Walsh to mentor our young pace attack...it remains to be seen if his coaching is as good as his bowling, but this might be a terrific signing after Streak left. Walsh certainly has a lot to work with.

Taskin (and Sunny) will be testing their actions in Brisbane on September 8 and should thus know their status before the Afghanistan tour starts on Sep 25. Not sure if Taskin deserved to have been banned in the first place, but lets see if he passes his test this time around. He will definitely provide some serious giddy up to our attack if he is cleared.

Lot of bullish talk ahead of the England series (not unusual for BD cricketers)...Sabbir says he doesn't care if England scores 400 or 500 in an ODI against Bangladesh and thinks we can chase it down :D

Shakib meanwhile thinks we are favorites for the ODI series (we would have been if Mustafizur wasn't injured) and says he wants to win the Test series 1-0 as well. We shall see, but its good that the boys finally feel they take on the big sides.

Taskin and Sunny have had their actions cleared, thanfully. Not sure if Sunny will be effective, but a lot of posters at pakpassion reckon Taskin will be fine since he had a "clean" action to begin with. I tend to agree.

We have our 3 match ODI series against the Afghans who warmed up nicely with a big win in the tour match which featured guys like Anamul, Sabbir, and the new batting sensation Mosaddek Hossain.

If we can manage to win all 6 games against Afghanistan and England, we will jump into 5th in the ODI rankings, which is amazing to think we're that close.

Epic collapse by Bangladesh in teh first ODI vs England.

Needed just 39 runs from 52 balls with 6 wickets left and two set batsmen blazing at the crease...chasing a seemingly inadequate 310 target, they imploded like only Bangladesh know how. Can they bounce back?

The Bangladesh batting lineup is worrying because they go from #7 to 4 genuine number 11 bats.

Yes they can bounce back. Bangladesh are pretty much favourites when they play at home now I think. Except maybe against India, South Africa, and Australia.

^Well we have taken care of India and South Africa last year.

I think our long gap of 11 months without ODI cricket has caused us to stagnate a bit. We seemed to have lost the flow. Soumya is out of form, Mushfiq is out of form, Tamim is out of form. And now Sabbir is also out of form. I hope we have a flat track in Chittagong and England set us another 300+ target. We need the top order to fire (they were 271-4 in the first match but Tamim and Sabbir failed).
