I think Kaitano is very lucky we are playing Australia and that they got Visa’s a while back. He will probably be given his last hurrah at ODI cricket in this series. Hope he can turn his form around.

This is my 11 for game 1, assuming Blessing is ready for the first game:

Kaitano
Kaia
Williams
Madhevere
Raza
Chakabva
Burl
Jongwe
Evans
Ngarava
Muzarabani

Bench:
Nyauchi
Marumani
Munyonga
Madande

Hopefully dropping Madhevere in the last game was an eye opener for him and he learns from it.
I don't think Madhevere needs to be dropped as a wake up call. I'm sure the guy is doing his level best every time he plays and practices. I'm sure the penny has dropped that the privelege of getting picked regardless of repeated failures may be coming to a temporary end under Mr Houghton.
The boys know they need to practice hard and deliver.
Evans has thrown a spanner into the works for the seamers and if Ballance arrives someone is going to take a seat amongst the batters as well. It's how it should be.

I still think Burl belongs ahead of Chakabva in that line up and probably ahead of Madhevere if he gets picked.

Marumani for Kaitano.
Dude only got one game against the indians. Talk about setting someone up to fail.
Houghton needs to give him the 3 games against the aussies see how he fares.
Kaitano has had quite a few chances against both bangladesh and Indian side

Just your weekly reminder that the 'squad expander' Rajput, also known as Fraudput, didnt think Evans was worthy of a call up.,weeks before he took a fiver against India.

Not so much Ratshit as being vetoed by the convener. He's never rated Evans. One swallow doesn't make a summer, Evans needs to continue to bowl consistently well, keep his run rate low, wickets are a bonus and not disgrace himself with the bat.
I wonder if the selectors travel? Ratshit has contributed to selection in the past without even being present.
Also curious whether the final team has to be run by the suits as has been customary.

I'm guessing Marumani is not looking as solid as Kaitano during practice? I know the game is played in the middle but how you fare in the nets plays a part in 50:50 decisions.
Same as Shumba, we haven't seen him for a while either.
Neither Shumba nor Marumani are classicly good looking batsmen, that also potentially plays a part in marginal selections.

I'm curious about jet lag. I know the rugby teams wear compression suits and do all kinds of weird stuff to reduce the impact of it.
The literature says you need one day per time zone that you cross to acclimatise.
Even north south travel I find tiring, but the big one is east west. I read somwhere that long haul pilots who are on east west routes most of their lives have a reduced life expectancy.

I highly doubt our fitness team is that advanced to think of all these things. They probably still do old school stuff to try and reduce the jet lag and not realise that there needs to be an improvement in the way we do things. I've seen sessions where our guys were doing some really basic warm ups before a game, whilst the other team was doing sessioned drills and skills training.

I think Shumba was injured.

Hardly any media coverage of this series in Australia. I was listening to one of the sports radio shows in Australia. In a 2-hour show, they only talked about the Australia v Zimbabwe series for around 1 minute and that’s probably only because one of the presenters of the show is David Warner’s wife.

She did mention that if Australia win the toss they will probably bowl first due to early morning swing on a flat deck. Could be disastrous if Zim have to bat in the early morning again.
