Really showing that we have no actual depth. Not many of these guys did well in the India or Bang series and yet they are going to face the Aussies, who won't let up. A lot of competition for spots in the Aussie side and they all want them. Going to be a really tough series for our guys. ZC should have definitely used this opportunity to arrange matches with some state sides. Massive mess up by ZC there.

Notable that Raza is ahead of Williams in both those Top 8 and since 2015 lists. He is incredible

Suppose there’s no time to organise any matches Vs state sides. Certainly not before the series. And after, well it might be prudent to give the guys a week or two off before prep for the World Cup starts. They haven’t had a break at all for a few months now

Not buying that. If anything, you're flying all this way you make the most of learning and training on the conditions you will be playing on a couple months later, and also that you don't get to play in often. This is how players develop. Playing in different conditions against different teams.

There are many players who will be in training mode for the BBL and getting ready for the domestic season. There would be some domestic sides who would see this as an opportunity to get their players into some good preseason training.

Yeah I get that, fair enough.

On the other hand though some of these guys have been in camp with the national team for about three months already without a break. Potentially another 1-2 months if they stayed on in Oz until the WC. That’s a long time!

The other thinking may be that we haven’t played any domestic cricket in the past couple of months so there’s little chance for anyone else to break into the side. Maybe they will be playing a couple of weeks of domestic T20 following this Aus series? I think that would be a good idea actually.

Quite possible that ZC just don’t want to spend any money though of course

They are definitely not paying for an extra 2 weeks in Australia out of their allocation  they control their finances once again. I wonder how much they made over the last month from TV rights and a full HSC. A couple of million I'm sure. India especially brings in lots of money

He was probably just behind Williams a month ago. The past 6 ODIs, he really took off.

I think Kaitano is very lucky we are playing Australia and that they got Visa’s a while back. He will probably be given his last hurrah at ODI cricket in this series. Hope he can turn his form around.

This is my 11 for game 1, assuming Blessing is ready for the first game:

Kaitano
Kaia
Williams
Madhevere
Raza
Chakabva
Burl
Jongwe
Evans
Ngarava
Muzarabani

Bench:
Nyauchi
Marumani
Munyonga
Madande

Hopefully dropping Madhevere in the last game was an eye opener for him and he learns from it.
