Indeed he deserves a lot of credit even with the approach he took with the previous U19 world cup team and how he is getting this team prepared. I remember reading somewhere that he wanted this unit to play about 50-60 games before the next world cup event. We are on our way towards that and with the tri series coming up and then the SL team touring us. These guys would be much better prepared than the last 3 WC bound teams I think. He certainly is the guy we need at the age group level.Googly wrote:Mangongo has really pulled out all the stops to give these boys as much exposure as possible. If we had more passionate age group coaches like him our age group cricket would be at a much higher level.

If you're a cricketer then you're supposed to wear a box, people are trying to hit you in the nuts all the time
. He must take a teaspoon of cement and toughen up! He should have also delivered the message when he was supposed to.

Zim going well again.
This year's u17s have had the best tournament I can remember for either the 13s or 17s in the CSA week.

I don't remember witnessing anyone who is as fluent in rotation of strike as Liam Roche has been among the up and coming folks in the last few years. He has done that so regularly in almost all the matches we have witnessed in the last month or so. Plus big hitting too. In all seriousness now, we must get him in the team.

He's just turned 17, and has played no senior cricket. If the team you are referring to is the national u19s, then you'd be right...

This is what I said at the time of the reported incidence. Discipline is not a bad thing and for that reason I failed to support fire Mangongo bandwagon. And yes, I supported the Sean Williams exclusion from the Bangladesh tour too.Googly wrote:If you're a cricketer then you're supposed to wear a box, people are trying to hit you in the nuts all the time. The slide to awfulness by the Zim team (and Bangladesh's rise) was inevitable. He was just unlucky to be coach at precisely the same time it started, as even worse results since his departure their total failure to improve under Dave Whatmore have proved.

This isn high school Conant,
Once you lose the dressing room, you're done as a coach.
Mickey Arthur is one of a hundred examples. I heard a radio interview yesterday where he said it himself.
