Word from the ground is both captains agreed to forfeit the match.

Tuskers wanted to not bat at all and just declare, however the umpires refused.

Poor show from the central contracts, IMHO. At one point everyone has to down tools.
Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).

Now it has been agreed that the Tuskers have awarded the game to the Rhinos - the carnage continues.

Yeah, that's a bit weird. It shows Zimbabwe cricket definitely has two classes - the haves and have nots.

How did Rhinos even field anyway if half the team refused to play? Was it just the 4 bowlers fielding plus Moor behind the stumps? Would love to know what happened there.

It would be comical if it wasn't so sad. The way ZC is run is a reflection of how Zimbabwe's economy in general is run. Until the country can get itself out of the gutter, this sadly is going to continue. Losing test status and ODI status may be the best thing for ZC as its the only way structural changes have a chance to occur. I feel for the players having to deal with this.

I hope it doesn't happen because if it does we won't get it back...
And to be honest, while we're bad in Tests and ODI's we aren't that far off the pace. We're a few players and a decent admin away from being a team capable of winning 2 games a series instead of 1.

However, if it did happen you can bet that once the money dries up the current ZC admin will disappear as quickly as they arrived. I think what would eventuate then, is that the game will then be administered by those who care about it (ie. those willing to do it for free, for the love of the game) and they would do it well. Cricket will be played on an amateur basis by those who can afford to play for free - playing for fun really. There'll probably be less than a dozen clubs nation wide but the quality will actually be decent (because schools cricket will organically feed into those clubs, and with no provincial cricket structure there will still be a handful of top players who choose to stick around because they enjoy the game). There would be more white players than there currently are, but not an overwhelming number (think more "Zim Rugby" than "Zim Polo Crosse"). And in time, a Zimbabwe representative team will play Intercontinental Cup - with the same degree of success Rhodesia had in the Currie Cup probably.
