I think somehow the whole deal Bvute letting AC and co. come on board in 2009-10 was somehow linked to an opening up of ZC to the media on the condition that the Steven Price articles would stop. I can't remember, does that ring a bell to anyone else?

Sure the 16 yo IPL groupie girl may not, be she probably also does't know that bowlers can bowl more than 4 overs in a game. If people are aware Zim beat Pak in a Test recently, they will be aware of the series against Afghanistan and this player strike. At best, they'd assume there is always a strike and not know there was a new one.
Nah, guaranteed that nobody besides the serious cricket junkies would know about this strike. Next to nobody cares about Zimbabwe cricket, let alone Zim domestic cricket.
There's always an exception. I'm a sports attendance enthusiast who's already interested in Southern African history. I've lurked these forums for a while to see the state of domestic cricket in Zimbabwe and also to try to figure out how many people are attending first class matches, both Logan Cup and international, in Zimbabwe. I'm no closer to knowing the answer but I watch with great interest the state of the game. I'm surprised Zimbabwe was given FC status again in the first place and I hope it can keep it, but with situations like this it doesn't seem likely.

I admit I'm an unusual case. I'm a Scottish football (soccer) fan living in the United States, but attendances are my thing. So... if anyone knows the attendance for this match (such as it was) and matches like this in the Logan Cup then I'm very grateful, but for the most part I'm just fascinated that professional cricket persists in Zimbabwe at all. It seems such a lost cause, but it has such a great history that I hope it can persist.

Welcome to the forum :)

Local guys like Googly and gargamel could probably tell you what Logan Cup attendances are like. I'd hazard a guess it would be no more than a few dozen, like friends and family of players. Plus maybe a handful of people who happen to be having lunch at the Centurion while a game is on

When the local T20 tournament was sort of high profile and televised a few years ago, the attendances were huge though (like 10,000 at HSC I think for one of the finals in about 2010 or 2011?).

30 people at Queens on sunday would probably be stretching the spectator numbers.
And about 7 of those were groundstaff.
The average bank queue on sunday was probably better attended.

Bayhaus used to attend a few games and post pics, but has stopped.
I do recall one mountaineers home game that had a decent crowd, a lot of people picnicking etc. a lot of white people which surprised me considering the location

Zimbabwe had " Stanic Bank T20 " tournament in 2006, much popular tournament started before the most famous IPL, but Zimbabwe Cricket Board again failed to keep that tournament alive, players like Lara, Chris Harris, Andrew Hall, Chris Gayle & few top players from English County took part followed by Zimbabwe Stars, and the stadiums were packed with crowds everyday.

That tournament was a monumental waste of money. The organizers knew that wasn't going to be repeated and just helped themselves to some cash. Big surprise there!! It was entertaining though.

We could boost numbers by providing free transport to the ground and paying spectators $1 ea appearance money. We'd have to explain that they can't wander onto the field because those people in white are doing something. Makoni could bus his kids in with what's left of their free kit to see their first half game of cricket.

It was nice to see some televised domestic cricket.
