Green pitch for Afghanistan odis?
Green pitch for Afghanistan odis?
With the inclusion of ngarava mumba and also having chatara in the squad streak and taibu could well be stressing to the curators to prepare a green pitch maybe. What are people's thoughts on this. Think we have the firepower to do well in this regard. Afghan also have pacers but only dawlat zadran you could say is world class

Would play into Afghanistan's strength. 4 quicks we know of are decent at worst and very good at their best: Dawlat, Hamid, Shapoor, and Mirwais. They always have a few young players in every squad. Although bowling friendly pitches do favor the weaker side vs a flat track, so maybe it is the way to go.

Asian Sub Continent Teams Struggles in green pitches offering some seam movement and bounce. Afghanistan have their pacers who plays in dry flat tracks where they opt for some reverse swing, but they are unfamiliar, bowling in this sort of tracks. As it requires some control & accuracy with seaming skills. Mumba & Ngarava has pace, Tiripano is accurate, can be tough for the opponents if they show some control.
For Zimbabwe, none could handle pace & seam better in this squad except Ervine & Raza as it happened in recent tri sereis and to a certain extent it can be said Solomon Mire, as he plays in bouncy green tracks of Australia. It might be a gamble can bring good as well as bad fortunes for Zimbabwe

not picking chisoro suggests that as well. after what happened against sri Lanka in that first ODI of the series I'm not too comfortable with green pitches anymore. also if that was the case then surely Hami and Chamu should have been the opening pair because usually spin is their weakness. it doesn't make sense to open with musakanda and PJ when they both struggle with the new ball. the Afghanistan quicks can he devastating on their day
Re: Green pitch for Afghanistan odis?
Not a bad idea but very much a gamble as I'm sure Dalwat would be a handful .....
Also as someone mentioned the fact we have no specialist openers in the squad it wouldn't be smart to give their new ball more potency .....

A recipe for disaster, if you ask me. None of our batsmen plays the moving ball well. Apart from that, is it in any way possible to turn HSC into a seamers' paradise all of a sudden? How often have we talked about preparing lively wickets against BD for example, and in the end they were always the typical HSC wickets: a bit of movement in the morning, but otherwise good for batting.
