I still put my money on this never eventuating. If cricket were played in press releases, then Zim would be the world champions. How could they not be, after all they play 30 rounds of FC cricket each season, under floodlights with games at the Victoria Falls Cricket Ground.

ZC can't even organise a domestic cricket match, let alone get an academy running in Harare. And they want us to believe a Zim academy side is going to tour England playing county seconds?

I'll only believe that thing has roared into life when the first ball is bowled. Until then I'm filing this under the ZC #fairytale category.

Stop this stinking comments....
So what so & so wasn't selected...
Those not selected can play hard in domestic league & still make the Zim A or Chervon squad..
Dlyan Hondo sucked when he played for the Zim A...
I am interested in Akram & Trenowerth,...
Also hope Murray & Jadyen can make up the squad next year

Ok I remember... Dylan Nel. He was a decent opener, didn't do much at U19 despite looking promising. Mysteriously appeared from SA and made the side, then just disappeared after the WC. Looked a really organized player. I had a look on his FB page and he seems to have given up cricket and looks like a fitness coach or something. He had no intention of continuing with cricket in Zim so you really have to wonder at his selection. This Trenoweth chap must have a Zim passport and at 24 clearly has perseverance and likes his cricket. If this academy thing kicks off he's going to have to do well enough that they promise him FC/List A games next season with a view to a fast track into the A side or better. That seems unlikely when PJ and Burl had to spend a few years doing penance. Does anyone know where he went to school? He seems a mystery man.
You have to give Diplock points for hanging in, ZC have treated him poorly. When you have a system where one spiteful person can impede your career then there's little hope.

It's all about little cliques and alliances within ZC. If Dylan Hondo wasn't selected it would imply that the guys who picked this team don't like Douggie Hondo. Interesting.

Dylan Nel was a good cricketer. Was born here and left wen he was 7 or so I think.

This Trenoweth guy has very average stats from UK last year ! 15 wickets in a season over there spells danger to me. That's very poor.

Who is the guy who hates Diplock?

I wonder when league cricket will ever start.

honestly i dont get this dylan hondo did not get picked
thing, he is nothing special to deserve mention or to
say why did he not get picked. For all i know it was selfish
selection from douglas that he even got to play for a zim side
anyway. We clearly have better players we should be
crying over not him. Dylan nel is one, and the kids who
left for england? huchu, welch, evans, lock, hopper or tgey
were not interested. Jeremy ives and matigimu also
noticeable absentees. wouldnt have hurt to select a
madhevere or connoly in there to fast track their developments.
With muzarabani i think they are trying to take advantage
of his height, body like they are doing with richard ngarava
they have the physic to be world class international fast bowlers
just need to horn their skills more. the tsigas, murwiras etc
clearly are useless dont know what the selectors were thinking, Nunu
is a decent batsman time will tell if he is good or not

He's very serious about his cricket and wants to make a genuine living from it. Went to school in Natal and played for their under 19's side. Played alongside some of the current S.A international players. Scored 50 off 22 balls in one game, all the scorecards are available.

I'm looking forward to watching him. Playing for Natal u19 is not easy. What's his connection with Zim?
I'd forgotten about those boys in the UK, this would have suited them ideally. I'm not sure Byrom and Welch would be available, they seem to be making their own way for the time being, but the others may well have been keen. Evans is an excellent prospect, he didn't really do that well here over Christmas at club level but he could be a really good all rounder.
