I don't think there are limits on Kolpaks as they are essentially working as 'locals' using EU law. It might all change with Brexit which is why it would be very difficult for anybody to walk away from one now knowing you might never get another chance. the big difference probably comes from the fact that Kolpaks are long term details whilst the international deals are usually on a season by season basis. That's where the job security comes from.

Somebody already pointed out that Zim players should be attractive international options because don't play that many games anyway meaning that a player would be available for most of the season. That is a very valid point but I guess because of our poor performances a lot of our players are underrated from an individual point of view and that's why a kolpak deal is less of a risk for the counties. For example Jarvis really struggled initially but has improved over time.

In the end these guys will only leave if you offer them long term deals and match their current salaries. In the end this whole Kolpak issue has made life extremely difficult for us. For a long time you found guys earning more playing for Zim than Bangladesh for example but they still had the option to walk away and get even more. Imagine Shakib and Tamim just walking away today for 3 or 4 years to earn more money and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. SA has a much better cricketing system than ours but guys are still walking away and they are starting to suffer.

What I also find very interesting although I don't like talking about race is that the black African guys have the kolpak option but I don't know whether they don't use it because they don't want to or simply because they don't get given the opportunity to sign one. If I was Hami for example I might have walked away a long time ago the way he is always in and out of the team. I would like to think he could crack the worst team in division 2 at the very least if he counted as a local. Hami, Elton, Vusi etc are they that bad that they couldn't even get a kolpak for the worst county teams? interesting...

The black player I would back to do ok in at least the 2nd division would be Chamu funny enough. I think those conditions suit both his batting and bowling. His lack of international hundreds has clearly done him no favours.

I thought to get a Kolpak deal you have to be of 'European' background ? Which is why the Black players haven't got any Kolpak deals?

That's not even the case which is what surprises me the most. as long as your country signed the deal you can get a kolpak contract. Chanderpaul, Tino Best and Fidel Edwards have been on Kolpaks and they are not white. I also assumed the same thing at first. Theoretically Tarisai Musakanda for example could get scouted on this rising stars tour by a county and he wont come back, It doesn't seem to happen for some strange reason. the limits come through you having to have played a certain number of games for your country and counties technically getting fined for fielding Kolpaks according to Wikipedia but its available to all races

No, it's down to whether the country you're from has a particular type of trade deal with the EU. Ethnic background's not part of the equation.

The county loses money for each Kolpak player it fields in a given game. To be eligible as a Kolpak you must have either played a Test in the last two years or have been resident in the U.K. with a valid work permit for the last four years. With Brexit looming it's all presumably going to shit and Kolpak will become a thing of the past, and in my view will have really poor consequences, not only for the County game, but for cricket in general. Musakanda has got absolutely zero chance of getting looked at by any County, he's not good enough. Hammy would have a shot as the second overseas guy in the T20's, I think he'd have a shot at County if he put his hand up as a Kolpak, maybe. Mmm....

That would the definition of racist in terms of legal standing. Blacks would be disqualified simply due to their skin color.

Dear ZCF Englishmen, how many Black players have been part of County Cricket (both division in the past 20 years? I'm not talking players like redundant Fidel and Best or overseas players like Rabada and Braithwaite. I'm talking "native" black Brits.

The Brits don't need a Kolpak deal because they're citizens lol

You miss the point completely. And I'm well aware of that.

I'll help you:

Smeone try and complete that list without using Google etc.

The way I look at it, more Englishmen have played in Zimbabwe's Logan Cup in that past 20 years, than Black Englishmen have played in both County Divisions.
