Back in the day, being a rocks fan was a hard slog...he was what separated us from being worse than Girls High school 2nd XI and occasional respectability!
Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).

Re: ZCF obsessions
Good thread! I'll add that a forum wide obsession is being able to insert a proposed first XI into just about any topic

Re: ZCF obsessions
Well. here's doing justice to that. How can this thread not have an XI? Here's an XI of cricketers who are discussed most obsessively at ZCF. One fleeting comment seems to invoke a truckload of responses about them every time they are mentioned. The responses seem to include a wide range of emotions from extreme adulation to hatred.brmtaylor.com admin wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2017 4:09 amGood thread! Barney Rogers
Alistair Campbell
Vusi Sibanda
Stuart Matsikenyeri
Piet Rinke
Forster Mutizwa
Elton Chigumbura
Andy Blignaut
Kieth Dabengwa
Prosper Utseya (C)
Tinashe Panyangara
12th man (even here, unfortunately): Ed Rainsford

Rinke ahead of Timmy Maruma?CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2017 4:24 amWell. here's doing justice to that. How can this thread not have an XI? Re: ZCF obsessions
Probably scraped in by virtue of a better ODI batting average... and bowling average.pariah wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2017 12:12 pmRinke ahead of Timmy Maruma?CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2017 4:24 amWell. here's doing justice to that. Re: ZCF obsessions
Yeah, probably Maruma should have gotten in there ahead of either Rinke or Dabengwa.
Re: ZCF obsessions
I remember someone on this forum calling Rinke "concrete feet" - that name has stuck in my mind!

Re: ZCF obsessions
Pretty sure they had Greg Strydom in mind too.
I think of him when I watch Levi and Jon Jon Smuts. Who knows maybe he might have done better than them albeit with similar deficiencies.
Many ZIM players probably do regret quitting considering T20s today. Strydom is one, Blignaut the other and definitely Travis Friend.
I do think it's quite possible that eg the Afghan and Bangladesh T20 leagues would have taken a chance on Strydom, but don't do so with Cephas Zhuwawo.
