Chance Of Zimbabwe Against probably the weakest Windies Side

Post by Black Mamba »

West Indies are touring Zimbabwe after 13 years, it was 2004 when Windies Tour Zimbabwe last time where they won 2 match test series 1-0. This time situation is quite differant, as Windies have players with less experience can be said, similar to Zimbabwe Side.

Zimbabwe under coaching of Streak, looked competative and the success over Sri Lanka has brought new life to the team, and adding to it this could be the best possible chance for Zimbabwe to create history by beating West Indies.
Over last three years, there has been turmoil in West Indies Cricket and the new players have'nt been impressive except few individual performances.

If we see few of the recent test series played by the Windies, it has been the spinners who have found better against them. Wins for Windies came against Pakistan & England was in pace friendly conditions, and therefore it can be said, they are pretty good in facing the pacers, but when it comes to facing spin, they had been terrible failure, and haven't found any clue to face them.

Performers for Windies have been Kraig Braithwaite, Shai Hope and Roston Chase. However, Chase has been out of form in recent England series, these three players have managed to play spinners well but not in comfortable manner. Bulawayo Track in Zimbabwe has slowed down, and have been good for the spinners. Rangana Herath, Martin Guptill and Santner have done well in the Queen's track most recently in test series against Zimbabwe.

If we see performance of West Indies in slow tracks, spinners were the ones who worried them.

INDIA IN WEST INDIES TEST SERIES 2016

R Ashwin 17 Wickets

WEST INDIES V/s PAKISTAN IN UAE TEST SERIES 2016

Yasir Shah 21Wickets

PAKISTAN IN WEST INDIES TEST SERIES 2017

Yasir Shah 25 Wickets

As far Zimbabwe is concerned, their approach has been drawing the test matches , as their team set up off late has been consisting of 3 specialist bowlers and 3 part timers. Test Cricket is all about taking 20 wickets. Zimbabwe should look for some positive here as, Windies are not so strong as before and have the reputation of struggling against spinners. Jarvis and Chatara will be there as pacers. Graeme Cremer will again have to play the leading role, and he needs support from other end.Approach should be 7 specialist batsman that includes part timers and wicket keepers and 4 specialist bowlers. Tendai Chisoro is much ahead here, his batting skills are added benifit, he should get the cap. Cremer, Jarvis, Chatara and Chisoro should be the 4 bowlers Zimbabwe needs against these average Windies Side.

Doesn't seem so Windies are inexperienced in front of spinners. Cremer & Chisoro will have the edge on them.

Wellington isn’t even the first choice spinner at the Goats

I highly doubt Zimbabwe will pick 2 spinners

Playing 3 bowlers strategy is a negetative strategy of drawing the test.

Two Spinners in Zimbabwe Training Squad, positive strategy keeping in mind wickness of West Indies in facing spin.
