For I’m thinking Mire will play but bat low in the order and bowl

Chamu
Hami
BRMT
Ervine
Williams
Raza
Mire
Regis wk
Cremer
KJ
Mpofu

Waller very unlucky to miss out after his last test although you could argue he was lucky to be in that side.

I agree with BT I can’t see them playing 3 walking wickets in Ngarava, Mpofu & KJ in the same side, although maybe Ngarava has worked in his batting as his first class average continues to climb
That's pretty similar to what i would go for , really desperate for a bowling all rounder at 8 though. Just don't think mire is a capable international level
Probably not but I think every side in the world is looking for a quality fast bowling allrounder, they're a rare commodity.

There are a few young guys coming through with potential but who knows how they will turn out.

Some news coming through: http://www.chronicle.co.zw/west-indies- ... st-series/
Meanwhile, a three-day practice match between the bulk of the national team players and Bulawayo Metropolitan Tuskers started at Queens yesterday.

Former national team captain Brendan Taylor did not get enough time in the middle as he was dismissed for just one run caught and bowled by pace bowler Luke Jongwe. Another player who recently committed to playing for Zimbabwe, Kyle Jarvis made 14 runs as Zimbabwe declared their first innings on 289 for the loss of eight wickets in 70 overs.

Christopher Mpofu had some fun in the middle as he hit four sixes in one over bowled by his Tuskers teammate John Nyumbu to finish unbeaten on 25 off 15 deliveries.

He should be in the national team, not C&B-ing the team's number 4 cheaply.

More value from him than this business of Mire, Chamu and Malcolm lower.

So who scored the 289 runs other than Jarvis(14) and Mpofu(25)? Journalism?

At least the tail will wag a bit. :D

Mpofu and Jarvis definitely in the attack.

Mpofu picking up on his batting too. That should put him in good stead for yet another test cap.

The question could be asked is Mpofu a better batsman than bowler now

I don’t mind it in a way because it reminds me of the good old days in the late 90’s and early 2000’s all the bowlers could bat a bit and most of the bowlers could roll their arm over

8 batsman 3 specialist bowlers. Good Side for drawing a test match. Zimbabwe needs to be positive against these less experienced side. Regis needs to open, Chamu dropped for Chisoro, pacers can't trouble this windies side, spinners had great hunting time against these windies side.

I am told Streak has prepared a special weapon in Jarvis.

The Windies will be up against something they haven't faced in the nets against Fidel, Gabriel, Roach, Joseph and Tino best! It'll be brutal. That Narine mystery will be nothing on Cremer.

I think this side has been weakened with little thought. We don't know what they'll do or what's their final XI, but what we do know is that Hami has proven his struggles opening, Chamu being Test material is questionable, Mire has no credentials, while Williams has been having a bad time with the bat. Even if Chisoro is picked to support Cremer, he won't be able to be an answer when they attack Cremer. The WI have just beaten the English side itself, and Jarvis was an above-average seamer in County there. He has zero international exposure in so many years. Raza and Mpofu were completely toothless in their last SL assignment.

Streak and Taibu's goal should have been to pick players and play them to their strengths, even with Chatara injured.

“We have been playing a practice match and I’m happy with the form of the players. Williams got 80 and Malcolm Waller got a 100. We’ve also had some positives from the bowlers; they’ve bowled well as a unit. It’s been good that the guys have got a run especially on the wicket that we are going to use in just over a week’s time,” Streak said.
Well, that makes things difficult. Waller no doubt is the man in a purple patch ever since the team embarked on that European tour followed by SL.
