Yeah, Zim will probably (exclusively) play 4 day games now which is a damn shame. ZC will do it from a cost cutting perspective, oppositions boards will do it to get it over and done with more quickly.
Sad, but Zim are being relegated in effect.
On a positive note, at least it means Zim is playing cricket which is better than the alternative.
Zimbabwe will play four day test cricket along with Afghans & Irish from 2020 in Tier 2 System

Zimbabwe Touring Ireland and UAE/India against Afghanistan for 3 four day tests, 5 odis and 3 t20s type formats will be great.

I thought the consensus was that they were swimming in money?
Send Whatmore and Streak the flowers for a job well done.Sad, but Zim are being relegated in effect.
Funny how all of this happened under Manase and Mukuhlani. The two most loved ZC Chairmen here. Even worse when you consider that Mangongo last coached ZIM in 2014, almost 3 years ago!
The contradictions here. Mind-boggling!
NB: ZC should sue for money spent in late 2000s introducing an expensive Logan Cup, 50 over and T20 tourney. Paying Franchise Executives and Coaches exhorbitant salaries, signing overseas players etc on fat salaries just to get back to Tests cricket but not being given enough games. If Bvute was in charge he would have threatened them with legal challenges. Not enough matches played to even have Test ranking points!!! Results weren't that horrible considering that this was virtually a reset since 2006 exile - a brand new Test nation. Once again, why didn't the Pakistani act in the interests of Zimbabwe??? Easy legal challenge this, and it could've halted the Test championship forcing them to back track until at least 10 years had lapsed! Fact that IRE and AFG are the first Full Members since 2000 - 17 years ago - a huge point.

I typed a huge long response, quoting, highlighting. But got rid of it.

The Irish seem to be on board with the 4-day concept.
I think ZIM can definitely get 5-day Tests with the Afghans and BD, and probably from the WI, SL, PAK because a draw in 4 days would not be a good result from their perspective.
Tests should always be 5 days. What this means is that 4-day matches are basically just first-class now.

Yeah, they can fit in extra tests outside the league

Maybe with the new ODI league we might get more tests since we will already be engaging in a series the big sides might be nice enough to flick us a match or two

More cricket the better , would rather be playing afg , Ireland ect than Scotland , Netherlands ect . Who knows 4 day cricket could be exciting and a whole new way of cricket for the future , can't really comment to we see.
