No test keeper should have to open it's insane , Regis should be number 6 0r 7 that is it ! Insanity expecting a bloke keeping sometimes for 2 days am, crouching down and mentally focusing non stop to have to come out and face fresh bowlers with a new pill doing plenty. Grinds my gears when I hear this , he's a solid batsman and has made runs down the order , don't change that and give him some confidence . He's the best option we have at the moment , allow the man to feel that. Confidence and faith does wonders to a man .
Very true. If Chakabva is keeping he shouldn't open the batting. Someone else in the team must take the mantle even Raza can open.
Agreed.

1. Raza has opened before with some success.
2. Even though I'd say he's a better "busier" batsman against spin, it's not like he's deficient against pace. No reason why he can't open.

It won't happen, and rightfully so given his success batting at 4 in Tests, but Taylor is probably the most suited to opening.

For lack of better options perhaps just going with BT will be the answer. The middle order should still hold up even without him. ;)

Those 3 bowlers will consider a minimum of 350 before taking 10 wickets.. 4 bowlers is the key here..3 bowlers should be a strategy against strongest teams..we have to back ourselves here..

Before the 2011 Test I was heavily in favour of Taylor opening, but I realised pretty quickly I was wrong. He's played 13 games at 4 and averages 51.63 (82.10 for games played in Zim) - that's not something we can afford to change up.

Taylor is our go to batsman, he can only bat at 4 or 5.

If Chakabva is keeping, he should open the batting, he will struggle for sure, but this time, Zimbabwe has experienced middle order who can pull Zim out of trouble.20, 30 can be useful from Chakabva.

Chakabva should open to provide balance in the team. Zim can afford to play just 3 specialist bowlers against Windies, and simply draw the series, they need to walk out pisitive and take this opportunity of beating weakest windies side, Bulawayo is slow and spin friendly, Cremer and Chisoro should be there.

Windies Bank on just three batsman Braithwaite, Hope and Chase, who plays spin good, but not the best. Pacers wont trouble them, as they are use to facing the quickest on the fast track of Sabina Park.

Sabina Park hasn't been a fast pitch in almost 20 years, ever since that abandoned test against England in 1998 slow and low has been the usual pitch conditions.

If he does get the nod Mayavo will join an exclusive club of local wicketkeepers. Only six players – Andy Flower, current Bulawayo Metropolitan Tuskers coach Wayne James, Tatenda Taibu, Chakabva, Taylor and Richmond Mutumbami – have kept for Zimbabwe in Test cricket since 1992 when the country played its first Test.

Will Mayavo become the seventh Test keeper?
No he won't. PJ Moor took that title last year against NZ.
