Chatara the only unanimously loved player

Post by jaybro »

I’ve been thinking lately about how ‘polarising’ the current bunch of players are, especially here on the forum the views on one particular player could range from being ‘World class’ to being ‘useless’.

Established stars like BT, Ervine, Cremer, Hami etc are mainly loved by the forum but they all ha e at least one or two haters. In fairness Hhm hates all the white players ( or comes up with stupid reasons to drop them ) but even going through the black players it’s hard to find a guy who someone isn’t a fan of or doesn’t rate.

Tendai Larry Chatara is the only guy that I can think of that is unanimously loved by all the forum and would be in every XI picked.

Even the players from yester year I can’t think of anyone who hasn’t had some negative things posted about them ( even Andy Flower )

Anyone other player someone can think of ?

Chatara is indeed much loved. Piet Rinke was a loveable character I guess.

I'm beginning to think if it was a ploy to leave Chatara out of these two tests knowing he wouldn't get much help anyway from the pitch, so that he can be fresh, uninjured and match ready to be unleashed in the day-nighter at SA, where we need him badly.

And yes, i'm a big fan of Chatara too, and haven't seen anyone criticize him unfairly.

Tino Mawoyo gets a lot of love too. Really lovable guy. A couple of snide remarks about KFC notwithstanding :)

Among former players, surely no one hated Rainsford and Blignaut.

May be add Guy Whittall to the list :)

EDIT: And how can we forget Raymond Price? Everybody loves Raymond...

I’ve seen Rainsford called ‘toothless’ before and Hhm has dissed every white player to ever play for Zimbabwe so I’m sure Larry is the only guy we all love

I don't think pariah even rates Andy Flower.

Who cares what hhm says with his prejudiced thoughts? Let's say I'm referring to ZCF-hhm, as he himself refers to the forums in third person here as though he doesn't belong to it...

Yeah Chatara is quality. Should definitely be an automatic selection when fit.

wrong because I Don't love Larry at all. I get the shits looking at him.

he looks like a hot air balloon stick figure with a dead left arm when he bowls. and gets pumped at the death.

I do however, think that he and Kyle are streets behind the next crop atm.

Who would you say is or has been our best death bowler? I think the modern game has gotten a stage where you need specialist death bowlers. At least one. The stats say Chatara and Panyangara are among the world's best in the first 10 But among the world worst in the last 10. Which is why their economy rates and averages are terrible.

Funny thing is I actually think Mpofu's slower bowl tactics are probably the best thing we got. Only problem is our batting is so hopeless that we cant afford to pick Chatara Mpofu Panyangara and Cremer in the same team. Minnows dilemma
