The army don't even need to overthrow Mugabe now. ZANU-PF will do it themselves. Mugabe has no support whatsoever from any group of Zimbabwean society, not even from fellow Zanoids.
So why did the army intervene if the numbers were hugely in favour of Mnangagwa?

As much as Zimbabwe has a constitution, Zimbabwe has a constitution too.

Why didn't ZANU simply recall Mugabe like ANC did to Mbeki if politically and plus with backing from the Joint Operations Cpmmand they had power?

Your reasoning makes zero sense. Absolutely zero sense!!!
You are so unaware of how things function in Zimbabwe. The army was always going to have to make the first move as Mugabe's undemocratic rule was always solidified by the army. The people and many in ZANU even have been living in fear, with the army showing that they no longer side with Mugabe that fear has been removed. Mnangagwa, an independence hero couldn't even question Mugabe, he was poisoned!!! Imagine what Mugabe and Grace would do with a regular person who opposed them on their own.

Truly amazing scenes in Harare. Raise your glass to the hundreds of thousands of Zimbabweans who have come out to hopefully see the back of a man who has wrecked a once prosperous country.

It's big news here in England. Here's to peaceful and prosperous new Zimbabwe.

Following that march was amazing. I did not want to sleep. As a journalist, I so badly wanted to be in Zim to cover this. As a Zimbabwean I so badly wanted to be in Zim just to be a part of this, but alas, had to follow from Aus and suffer from major case of missing out.

I have a theory that pariah is probably Patrick Zhuwao...

Beautiful. Never thought Zim would recover, or even had a hope something like this could happen. There’s no place in the world like Zim. Rhodesia and Zim(80&90s) was probably one of the best places in the world to live in. Will never get back I don’t think to that standard but even a semblance will do !

It doesn’t look like he’s going to resign voluntarily so it remains to be seen whether he’s forced out over the next few days or he manages to drag it out. This whole saga has strengthened Zanu’s hand, not weakened it. As Maimane pointed out the other day- you’re only free when you’ve managed to liberate yourself from the liberators. The old guard of Zanu repeatedly state that you need war credentials to be anyone of consequence and this has created our sad situation. In order to make this fly they’ve had to create an enemy that they need to protect the Zimbabweans from, that’s the whites, Britain and The West in general. It’s getting tougher to float this as there are now two generations since independence and the bulk of the educated people are thankfully questioning the rhetoric. In order to keep this illusion going, especially in ten years time when there are no war vets left in a fit state to govern, they need to keep the population believing that there is an enemy out there.
Clearly there’s no free and fair election next year, and the reality is that latest events will have bizarrely increased Zanu’s popularity, a number of people are cynically claiming this has been orchestrated, which one would hope is not true. Opposition parties not being included in this crisis clearly means Zanu are digging in. However they do have an opportunity to blame past ills on Mugabe and to tidy up their act dramatically, let’s hope that at the very least they make an attempt. It’s not all gloom and doom, yesterday was a huge day and hopefully made Zanu realize that they do have to govern and that perhaps the population are not the malleable dumb sheep that they’ve grown accustomed to manipulating. What is going to be intriguing is watching some really corrupt people now jumping ship and coming up with excuses of how they were made to do it. One of the worst culprits actually had the audacity to make a speech yesterday.

My fear is that with Mugabe gone there is going to be some real instability. For all his faults he ruled with an iron fist and when you have a massively disenfranchised population and no financial means of rectifying the problem you’re going to get a volatile situation that unscrupulous people can use for political gain like Pariah’s friend Malema. He’s good in that he’s unafraid to tackle the excesses of the ANC, and he’s gained his popularity by promising wealth redistribution, where in the world has this worked so far, yet it’s a tried and trusted means of gaining the throne every time!
I worry about Mnangagwa’s and Chiwenga’s ties with China. We need investment desperately here, but the Chinese are not the answer, they will make the white colonialists and oppressors of old look like Junior dorm. Their only interest is to repatriate our resources and in order to do that effectively they need bought and paid for politicians.

look i am a lowly street thug but i think i know how this will play out, or at least, this is my prediction.

zanu will work with the MDC and hear their concerns.

Zanu will do what googly mentioned and place EVERY bit of blame on my man Bob. This 'buys' a clean slate.

They then have a blank canvas to play it however they want, but with the MDC underwriting it, they will present a uniformed front that looks friendly to foreign investment, business and optimism in general.

this million nigga march that googly described will only show Zanu pf that the population want change, and are tired of poverty.

If they are intelligent (i think they are at least wily and cunning) they will capitalise on this wave of optimism and do just that.
The benefit?

Zimbabwe people win.
