The executive stroke of a pen overriding the selectors, I’ll bet my bottom dollar. I’m not saying it’s a bad decision, but it stinks. This is why we need these blokes out pronto.
Should have had a proper selection panel from the outset and then the executive should not have these powers.
Breaking News : Zhuwao & Williams called for the ICC Qualifiers 2018

Clearly the rumblings Taps was talking about were a lot more than that. Crisis management. What they do best.

That must be one of the heaviest top 4 in the world!tawac wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2018 2:18 pmHow tempting is it to try both Mire and Zhuwao up top.
Mire
Zhuwao
Hami
Taylor
Ervine
Raza
Waller
Cremer
Jarvis
Chatara
Blessing
Its quite clear that Williams will only come into to the at the Super Six stage. Hammy has always done well at 3. With Taylor at four We could be in business.
Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).

I also suspect this was an executive decision. Zhuwao had even gone back to England. He was not in the picture at all. Somebody must have put real pressure on the selectors.

If this decision has come from elsewhere, and if Zhuwao tastes even some success in the qualifiers, then it is curtains for Streak and Taibu. Their egos would be hurt badly, and those who pushed Zhuwao in could put their foot down too. Of course all could end nicely too, but this is Zimbabwean Cricket we are talking about.
Re: Breaking News : Zhuwao & Williams called for the ICC Qualifiers 2018
I’m not sure I would have been comfortable being the only two voices if I were them. We’re in a fight for our lives and for Streak and Taibu being the only two selectors is a strange decision by the Board and an even stranger one them agreeing to it. You’re either hero or zero and I wouldn’t want to be carrying the burden of that on my own. Everyone thought it was a good idea at the time because ZC are renowned for vetoing correct selections.
I’m curious who they talk to for advice, especially Taibu, since he wasn’t around that often, he was clearly initially only giving some validity to what was going on. I doubt Streak would have been picking the sides on his own all this time.
I wonder what Cephas was doing over in the UK? It’s too early for the club season so he must have been doing something else, which also probably means ZC weren’t paying the players and that the season is probably over as someone suggested. Such supposition from a grain of information

Ok I’ve got a theory. Nothing is ever simple here.
Cephas was Prophet Magaya’s bodyguard. Magaya would have directly and indirectly taken credit for Cephas’ fantastic run of form. The whole of ZC are extremely religious (I will refrain from commenting about that, but suffice to say I did regurgitate a bit of food merely penning that), and there’s a religious angle to this as well.
I see it being Divine Intervention, and I’m not being facetious, there’s some strange stuff that goes on there.
It’s been my experience that the worst tsotsis sit in the front pews and sing the loudest then they set about Monday to Friday with a pink ticket.

Looks like a very strong ZIM side. I don't know who Zhuwao is, but I guess Burl and Tari haven't taken their chances so its a good move. Even Waller has a probably just managed to squeak past Burl and Tari due to his experience and past record. Waller could be destructive late in a game and add 20 runs to the ZIM total to where 250 suddenly becomes 275-280.
On paper this looks like a side that could even win the qualifiers with ease (although I voted that ZIM wouldn't qualify). This is the best squad that could have been picked.

Wow, I didn't think that was ever gonna happen. Cephas has been a cult hero of mine for a long time ... but not in the sense that I thought or think he'll be the saviour of Zim cricket. I wish him all the best and hope he does well.
Question is, if he's not Streak & Taibu's choice, will they really play him?
