Just in case anyone was wondering about Trenoweth, here are this season's stats. Average of 41 in 50 over. Over 600 runs score. And highest run scorer in the Durban premiere League T20 comp. Really hoping he shapes for the tour.

I don’t get why they keep overlooking Diplock and Hondo.
It’s clear that Diplock is not liked by ZC, but Taibu on occasion has managed to override a couple of their less well informed or even spiteful decisions. Our man on the ground, Gargamel, has stopped giving us the inside track.
He’d also know these club players and it would be interesting to compare his and Flakey’s views.

I’ve just read up on Trenoweth. He looks ok, here’s my take-
He’s been picked to shore up a mediocre side.
At 24 the clock is ticking and he’s assured them he’s going to play a season here after the tour. I’m not sure if he’s got family here, but I doubt. He’s going to come back here to our stop start season with small likelihood of getting paid enough (or at all!) to last a season here.
I guess he’s hoping to light it up and get a franchise slot (again there’s the issue of no pay) and maybe get a shot in Zim A. Obviously he’s an ok player and he’s come this far and has to give it a go, but unless he’s financially independent (or has assistance) he’s going to struggle.
I don’t want to be a killjoy, but that’s the reality.
He’d have to be really good to get a direct entry into Zim A, so he’s looking at at least 2 seasons to prove himself.
These are the hurdles we face in getting a good standard of FC/List A cricket going here and to enticing good cricketers back here. If they’re decent you almost have to guarantee them a Zim A spot or there’s nothing here for them.

I haven’t seen Hondo. With that surname you’d think he would be in.

He's been picked because he has an xfactor that nobody else in that RS squad (barring a few even the Zimbabwe natioanl side) has, and is a strong athlete who can bowl fast. He's comfortable financially, and i know his family support his decision and his girlfriend. The reason he is still allowed to play even though he is 24 is due to his girlfriend being very very ill the last time he was drafted. So he's been given another chance. His aim is Zimbabwe A towards the back end of the year yes. He better than an ok player, mate. I don't rate players very often unless they have something about them, but this guy? Yea, this guy's got something. He's averaged 50 this year in SA and has lit up the T20 scene.

I said it the first time he was drafted, and I will say it again; he's a scary talent. The last time he came over here in 2016 he was very raw and green, and wanted to smash everything. He smoked 120 off 80 balls against the top side and it looked so easy. All the talent but no application it seemed, but his stats from this season tell another story. I hope he has a good summer, hell knows he deserves it after the year he and his family have had.

SA is now nearly uncrackable due to the quota system over there.

So when they get back from UK does that team remain intact or do they now pick the strongest side from last year’s side and this one?
