At the moment, Zimbabwe Cricket has improved on what it was a few months ago. There is beginning to be more money available, as shown by the fact that they are now giving me paid work to do again (in US dollars, like all players and other employees), though on a part-time basis, and say they also want me to produce a yearbook. They should build up some financial reserves in the off-season from the monthly ICC payments. But much depends on the appointment of the right man as MD, to make sure there is proper planning, budgeting and financial accountability in all areas. We cannot be sure yet, but there is hope that lessons have been learned and wise advice from people like Vince will be heeded.
I like your enthusiasm John.
Don't forget elections for ZC are this August at the latest with shennanigans already starting.
Such as no one has received the MD permission to start getting their papers in too the election committee-although some have and some haven't.??

The Mukuhlani has fallen foul of the Bvutes and there will be a battle amongst the devil dogs as well as the angels vying for a better place.
Of course if you are in Zim and have 5yrs sports admin experience OR played for Zim in cricket OR have a bachelors degree you qualify to become a board member.....providing you have no criminal record(although some argue that this is a must    )

Yes, we can only await results from that, but the worst excesses of the past are no longer possible under ICC restraints, and as I say there has been improvement already in the last few months.

Is there an alternative candidate to the Mukuhlani led board?? The elections are up in August as pointed out.

From afar it seems like there is always plenty of people happy to point what is wrong or who isn't doing a good job, but rarely is there anyone actually interested in doing anything about it??

I'm guessing corruption will be blamed for people not bothering to run against these guys??

Yeah the big anti ZC drive seems to have Petered out (pardon the pun). I see Mliswa is going hard at Kirsty Coventry on Twitter. He may well galvanize her into action with his disparaging remarks about her doing nothing about the corruption in rugby, cricket and soccer. The problem with all of this is that you need an investigative committee  As you mention that word you know it’s doomed to failure.

Nice to see they can't grab handfuls at a time and may have to be even more creative. I wonder if the sports outlet upstairs in the chinese village is still selling the cricket gear bought by ZC for the national, provincial and poor schools

There is an interesting battle forming here in Harare already over the elections and i hear NickSIngo is the favourite to oust Vumi Moyo as Moyo becomes irrelevant.
The position of chairman in provinces is hotly contested because all know that the 10-100k bribes will be in before they choose the next bvute or Muks.

Either way time will tell :W:

Jimmy who gets to vote for Chairman of The Provinces?
Is that the name of the position? What is he responsible for and what power does he have?
I cannot believe he’s in the running, you can’t be serious!!!

All the nominees that put their paperwork in and are found legible by the "independent lawyers/concourt" become automatically part of the new board....unless more than 14 people then there is a vote for the top 14 by the cricket players.(never had this before )
Then the legible nominees amongst themselves vote for chair, treasurer, secretary and if applicable deputies to all 3.
What is he responsible for and what power does he have?
The chairman in theory has power only invested in him from the board majority. However once chairmen become chairmen they think they are a Mugabe in the Making and unilaterally do what the f they like.

So if you want to make a difference.....get some people together who are legible (bachelors,5 years experience in sport admin or played cricket for zim) get in and vote for your chairman that is willing to put cricket before bribes and corruption.
You will start receiving death threats, threats to you and your families business, deportation etc.
Also ZC will expect you to send your nomination papers direct to them so that they can "lose" the ones they don't want to send on to the "independent lawyers" SO FIND OUT WHICH LAW FIRM IS DOING THE CONCOURT FOR NOMINEES AND CONTACT THEM DIRECT.

What does Nick Singo do??? He's the administrator in Tuskers now and he protects his masters and himself.
