Re: Jarvis out of Second Test

So Jarvis, who hasn’t played a test in how long? An ODI in how long? Has played maybe one tenth of the cricket he used to play, is a proud professional sportsman, needs to perform for personal pride, for his country (albeit he is citizen second class- ID no ending in -00, isn’t that what the Nazis did?) and for financial reasons, you now feel has become complacent and should be made to feel like a hungry farmer from Muzarabani by ensuring he plays less cricket than ever before?
Will that make him bowl faster and more accurately next time? That should make him good and ready for the next test series in 2024.
It’s all a moot point, but by that logic they should drop most of the team for underperforming under the new “no sacred cow” policy. I want to see a team without Ervine, Raza, Taylor, Jarvis, Moor, it’s been a while and people need reminding so everyone is hungry for the next game. They won’t do that though, they can only afford to teach respect one player at a time so the losses don’t look too bad.
I don’t think many fast bowlers come back from a herniated disc, that problem never goes away.

Jarvis injury might be a blessing in disguise for us,I personally would like to see him sit this out so he can get a bit hungry for some wickets.
You’ve said this before.
You make it sound like he wasn’t trying.

He was still probably our best bowler in the first test.
You can’t measure a bowler by an innings. It’s a long sample plus what you see from the naked eye.
Let me explain my thought process

In most of all the games that we have won a test match Jarvis did not star and would be either out bowled by Vitori ,Chatara ,Shingi masakadza.

This is not to say he is not quality but he was a good performer when there is other Seamers.

He performed better in county wickets because he gets a lot of movement in those conditions,

My point again is Jarvis enjoys the competition and like to out bowl other team members, if i am to make myself clear he bowls better when he is fighting for a spot or when he feels his spot in the team is under threat.
It’s just a matter of mindset and I feel I have read him well.

I think it's more to do with the type of bowler he is. You will notice that the combo of Chatara and Jarvis works with Chatara getting early wickets and Jarvis putting in a real shift and picking up where Chatara left off because Chatara probably can't bowl more than 15 overs. He bowled really well on a flat deck .Lakmal did the same and didn't pick up a wicket for a long time but things lined up for him on day 5.

The truth is the big 5 have been mediocre and have been inconsistent.

We lost the World Cup quality at the back of some mediocre performances by the big 5 Chatara,Jarvis,Ervine,Taylor,Willimas

Let’s remember what happened when BT, Williams, Ervine, Cremer & Raza went on strike and Mire & Jarvis were injured. Zimbabwe got flogged and weren’t even remotely competitive

But yeah let’s get rid of all the senior guys again

Jarvis averages under 30 with the ball

Tiripano averages 50

But yes Jarvis needs to learn to fight for his spot 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Gonna go out on a limb and say this guy wont be happy until the side is made up of 11 black players.

Out.

This not a race issue , we need new blood to start coming in, colour is not an issue.

When your debutant scores half a century opening the batting you expect your experienced player to score more or the same number of runs, good example is Taylor.

When your debutant gets 3 wickets on debut you expect your experienced bowler to get 5.

So when debutants out score senior players then we have a huge problem on our hands.

It’s a shame Taylor and Jarvis got their money upfront, pretty much they will get a game whether or not they perform.

The money paid out to Taylor and Jarvis is enough to offer 4 upcoming players central contracts.

The reality is they are not worth the money they got paid for judging on their performances
