You play Boozers’ league so you can have a laugh with your mates, but I think this is dying a slow death, if it hasn’t already.
Do you know what "RhoDocs" stands for?
Rings a bell- was it Not Rodox? I’ll ask someone.

Does it seem strange to anyone that in a town as big as Bulawayo there's not at least one or two white guys playing club cricket somewhere competing for a FC spot? Even if it's just to have a bit of fun a few days a month and get a Cricinfo page, because obviously nobody would be doing it for the money.
How big do you think Bulawayo is, Bud? Do you know how many white guys actually live there?

I always enjoy doing these sums to horrify myself.
There are basically three schools with white kids there-
CBC, Whitestone and Falcon. Falcon probably has 250 white kids at most, and that’s a stretch. Multiply that by 3. That’s 750 kids. Assume 2 parents per kid, we’re at a grand total of 2250. Double that for grannies, grandpas and and 1000 for hillbillies in them thar hills  .
I don’t reckon there’s more than 6000 pinkies there.
When the pink kids leave school the vast majority leave the country if they are able. The black kids are no different. Any parents who can afford Uni send their kids out and most never come back.
These are our “elite” kids, the guys and girls with a good education and a head start in life and would make a big difference to our economy.
Whoever mentioned Diplock was right, one white guy in the whole country that plays club cricket, and believe me he’s the absolute last we will ever see. He’s like that last Northern Rhino that died a few months back. The last of his species. They should make a Diplock Memorial Cup.
I just find it shocking, I mean let's be really conservative and say there's 500 blokes in that 15-35 age bracket. In such a strong sporting culture, not even ONE of them is having a bit of a hit in club cricket even just for fun? If a white guy in Bulawayo wants to play a game of cricket what does he do? Same goes for Harare, how can Diplock be the only one? I just find it staggering.
Nowhere close to 500 guys with any interest or ability to play club, maybe a dozen at the very most.

I go on and on about ZC dismantling club cricket for a good reason. They did a complete and irreversible job as far as our community is concerned. I can’t start another tirade about other “clubs” with no grounds, it gives me blood pressure. Part of the draw of club cricket was the healthy rivalries with the other clubs, that doesn’t exist for us anymore. Life’s too short to play guys that genuinely don’t like you and that you have zero in common with. If there was one “white” club they’d feel they’d gone into lager, what’s the point of that?

Having said that, a mostly white franchise side would be damned interesting. Now you’ve got guys with real motive and there’s the potential of a national spot. If they gave someone like Brent (I know he’s already got a job but..) a decent budget to shop for a few players he could put together a cracking side in a heart beat. A lot of guys don’t put their hands up because they’ve been dicked before and they don’t want round 2 or 3.
Most importantly these guys would actually have some fun, which has somehow been lost in the post. A few of the current guys must dread going to work.

The rhinos need to poach some players. Losing BT and Jarvis has weakened them. Wes and Milton and Murray are registered with the tuskers. Myers and Marumani with the mountaineers. Surely there will be some changes

Although i think tuskers with Wes and Milton will have a team strong enough to take on Chatara and co

Do they get a choice of where they want to play, or do they just get placed?

Driving to Kwekwe (so nice they named it twice) twice a week or playing at OG’s is hardly a choice.

I played for them. It was originally an amalgamation of two club sides of former Rhodes University students (South Africa) and Doctors (though I was neither!), so that's how the name came about.
