Must have been the unluckiest man in the world than to go unselected at both the 2011 & 2015 World Cups!
I mean like surely if your the best bowler for a 2-3 year span you’d at the very least be in a 15 man squad?

Almost does feel as if the stats are misleading to create an unfair image.jaybro wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 12:43 amI also don’t understand where Kriterion got my bowling overs allocation from?
Raza & Watson bowling around the same amount of overs as Steyn & Rabada?
Anyways I’ll know for next time to just pick ‘the next guy on the list’ instead of players I enjoyed watching.

You have a very classy batting lineup. Grant of course has the most explosive. Jaybro made some questionable picks with Mahela and Duminy - but the point of this excercise is to see who's "favorite" players are the "best".
Jaybro also got very unlucky...almost every random innings had his players play shitty as fuck. Thats the beauty of this system, but its also harsh when you lose. He was never going to challenge your squad with the # of top order batting passengers he had, but he could have been a lot closer in the score had it not been for the luck of the draw.

The random # is the batting innings I used for the stats. In those innings, Rabada and Steyn didn't finish their 10 overs either because the game ended before then. Its a luck of the draw thing.

This was a cracker of a match. As I was inputing the data I knew it was going to be close but I had no idea it was this close. Imagine a team scoring 229 in an ODI and restricting the opposition to 221 to win by a mere 8 runs. That is what this is like!
Brmtaylor got centuries from Aaron Finch and Jacques Kallis, and also sizeable contributions from young Wesley Madhevere, Brendon Taylor, and Steve Smith. MS Dhoni provided the late charge with very crucial points. The bowling was disciplined yet not penetrative with Mitchell Johnson's 3 wickets the standout performance (ignore Dhoni's bowling line which was accidentally left in, but not factored into the scoring).
Zimbos kept things very close all the way to the end, and his most vital contributions actually came from Tom Curran down the order. But he really needed the likes of de Villiers to get a really big daddy knock, and had he done so, he would have snuck past the finish line. Zimbos bowling was far more penetrative than brmtaylor's, with Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer bowling superbly. But a combination of top order failures, and the longest tail in the competition, meant his batting was putrid, netting under 0.8 points where even jaybro's weak batting lineup got very nearly a full point.

So again I made the mistake of picking a side with more than 5 bowling options?? I guess I was better picking just 5 bowlers?Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 1:47 amThe random # is the batting innings I used for the stats. I don't see why JP & Mahela were such shit picks ? JP especially averaged 37 during the 2010's
No doubt BMac as captain was a bad choice and I thought we had to pick a 'proper side' I should have followed Mueddie's lead and just pick all openers; I was too worried about finding good player during the middle overs who could also get through a few overs.
Anyways I enjoyed picking the side and I'm still very happy with it

I also got undone by this; I naively thought everyone was doing so, before some odd selections woke me up to it, by then it was too late indeed.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 1:45 ambut the point of this excercise is to see who's "favorite" players are the "best".

I also picked my favorites. Ended up 6th in the rankings. I picked Mushfiq who averages 40+ with a 82+ strike rate (closer to 47 at 90 in the last 5 years) and he was one of my worst top order batters, and part of the reason I missed out on a top 4 slot, IMO. Granted I wanted Kane, and settled for Mushy who performs a similar role in the BD lineup. But in hindsight, I should have picked Babar if I was going for points.jaybro wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 2:19 amKriterion_BD wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 1:47 amThe random # is the batting innings I used for the stats. But the simulation offers everyone a chance based on an actual innings of cricket. Makes more like a proper fantasy league in a time when there is no cricket beign played.
