If BT can’t keep and Murray finishing off uni then I think for Pakistan Mutumbami is our best bet for keeper. Especially for T20s because he is aggressive. Play him up top because I know he can score with the field up.

Although I know people don’t want to hear it but Maruma isn’t a bad T20 player. He is aggressive. It’s a good thing we taking 25 players so that we can actually have 2 specialist teams.

I'd honestly still have Craig over Elton. The man just scored 65 off 41 in a intra squad game winning the match whilst Elton scored 2. What more do you need to prove he is a quality players? It's now just coming across as an agenda mate.

Hope that A side is not the A side because that is definitely not our best side.

Also, 32 man squad to travel to Pakistan? That is just unnecessary and a bit of wastage on plane tickets.

A lot of the selection is economic. The older guys need to be in the first class comp but to keep them there they need the international dangled. We can't afford to pay them properly to play for the franchises. I've got no problem with maruma playing for the . But then they want to throw him some livelihood and that means an occasional game for Zim. They aren't expecting him to do well. I don't think it is just cold nepotism, either. It compares with some forms of unionism.

The economic/trade union angle is an interesting take on things; it also puts the bloated training squads into perspective as (probably) a way to recompense guys on the fringe and keep them in the game.

The problem with unionism is of course that it tends to work better for the haves than the have-nots, i.e. older players over younger ones.

You could argue the same about the CPL; IPL etc a lot of way older players in these tournaments due to their name brand.

Now you're just being facetious. The difference is that Craig performs consistently, Maruma does not. Craig was our best the last time we put on International jumpers so why should he be dropped if he has carried that form in to the domestic set up and the training camp?

We get it. You hate him and blame him for the UAE loss. You put it all on his shoulders. He has already spoken about how that broke him. The difference is, he has come back since then and been one of if not our best player consistently. He has scored runs and been reliable. No other country would throw out their best player because of one performance, but here we are wanting to do just that despite the fact that the replacement are nowhere near good enough or last had a good game about 5 years ago.

The games are 1 month away. I’m sure Ervine Maruma and Elton will travel and we will see for ourselves what happens in the T20s
