He's working in the UK now I hear

Shit he has too, at 28.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 11:47 amRouse has retired unfortunately. Now running a business of some sort I believe.ZIMDOGGY wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 11:17 amThere are way more.
Trawl through the last twenty years of under 19 teams for a good list.
Dusty Melton is an often overlooked one, as is Adam Rouse. Both in county. The latter instantly solves our keeping issues.
Does Scotland still have that Zimbabwean captain?
Who is the Scottish Zim captain? They've had a few Saffers
I wonder why he didn’t want to extend a few years as a test player, goes to show how far away the white community is from ZC. That needs work.
As for the scot, I am starting to think I was thinking of Ryan Watson who captained them late last decade and retired in 2011. If so my mind is playing tricks on me because I could have sworn they had a Zimbabwean in at least
the mid 2010s

Re: The Lost Talent Blues
All is not lost. I saw Netherland cricket policy to allow county players of Netherland cirizenship representing the nation.
Why can't Zim do that, considering current economic conditions it's tough for any person to stay in Zim merely for cricketing opportunity. If some one is talented and showing some form he should be drafted into Zim national side without awarding him full time contract.
School cricket development is very necessary. Schools should be talked for playing sport even with tennis tape ball would help.

Re: The Lost Talent Blues
The Dutch don't have a FC system, we do. It would only anger the current FC cricketers who are playing for peanuts but also for the small chance of a national call up. If we started selecting Ben Curran or Nick Welch, it would only annoy and probably cripple the FC scene further.
I agree we should try and select certain players but you need to be careful.

Because the uncapped Zimbos in county cricket play as 'local' players. If they played 1 match for the Zim national team they are suddenly 'Overseas' for the rest of their career. County's only have 1 or 2 slots for Overseas players and its unlikely any of the Zim players are good enough to get those rare Overseas contracts.farhanhussan wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 12:12 pmAll is not lost. It's different for the Dutch - they were 'local' players under the EU and still are because of a post-Brexit EU Settlement Scheme for residents. Zim players can't do that unfortunately.

The talent in Zimbabwe right now is exciting, but we're probably two years away, maybe even three, from truly seeing its full potential. That's why it is vitally important ZC has strong, clear dialogue between the senior guys in the side. They have to stay for another two seasons
