While I understand the thoughts like "first of many such news to come soon" and all other speculations, the most important factor here is (even if there is more to come) that of Williams going away. He was carrying the team on his shoulders for the last couple of years. Was in prime form and was showing immense application every time he walked out to bat - and he was the only one to do so. I'm not even worried about a BT or a Raza leaving after this because Willo leaving has already killed it.

I always thought BT would be the first of the four to retire tbh, after everything he's put up with for so long. Or Ervine because of fitness. I thought Willo would play for years still. In the form of his life.

This is desperately sad.

I'll seriously give up on Zimbabwe cricket. Not worth it. I hope Sean changes his mind, meaning the board and management talk him through this and come to some understanding.

Why does this always happen when Zimbabwe have Important assignments ahead?

Sounds like there is a lot more to this story. Will observe from the sidelines for now. I am sure we will get more information in the days and weeks to come

You can’t just be letting your captain and best player go like that.
That is an embarrassment to ZC and shows it amateur standing and is a stain on Hamilton Masakadzas role.

Can you imagine (pick your favourite sorting teams) captain walking out despite being in the form of their life at important times without a poaching attempt?
Unheard of anywhere but Zim.

Shocked.

I really thought the Big 4 would play till the WC23 campaign was completed, would have been the pefect time with the New Big 4 getting a couple of years of experience without necessarily being in the limelight.

I am still hoping its a heat of the moment thing and SW will eventually retract his decision.

I don't think a series has ever been this important for us. Win comfortably and ZC will probably back Rajput and Hami meaning Sean is gone for good. Lose terribly and I'm sure Rajput will be shown the door.

Reading some of the reasons why he quit and I saw Mehluli say he didn't want to be pushed down the order. Now I'm not going to lie, in my mind at full strength I had Sean batting at number 6 now with Myers ahead of him. It seems like he really did not want this to happen.

I had it like

Wes
Regis
Craig
BT
Myers
Williams
Raza
Burl

They probably wanted it more like

Regis
BT
Craig
Williams
Myers
Wes
Raza
Burl

Either way this would be a silly reason to have such a big fallout. The not playing T20s thing also had some reasoning behind it. I hope they can work it out. Communicating and consulting with senior players is key in such situations

Does not matter if he walks away for more than a year, he 100% will not be the same player he is right now. A return after a year or two will never be easy at all to play top flight cricket. Hopefully he will make a return within 5 to 6 months.
