To be clear I don't like Utseya, however the word from a lot of the parents of the Under 19 boys is that he is one of the few coaches in Zimbabwe who really makes his players work hard to hone their skills, a bit like Mangongo who I always had a bit of time for.
Grant Flower is the one I think ZC could get if they really tried.
I have only ever heard feedback on him in regards to the China man bowler, but the feedback was he overworks him and is N injury waiting to happen as he is expected to bowl 600 balls a day in practice.
This was just the opinion of the person who was witnessing.
And yes Grant probably does make the most sense.
I’d like to see Brent as bowling coach (as we all do) and let’s bring in a foreign batting coach. Someone young and on the up who wants to make a name for themselves.
100 overs a day?? I really want to see how the kid performs in the next domestic season then .
Grant makes sense to me because I genuinely believe he is the right guy to take the kids to a higher level with the bat. Secondly he knows the system and was part of it, the senior players will respect him. Finally I don't think he will be too expensive. It would be the perfect opportunity for him to make the step up.
Hondo and Stuey are part of the system but I think even the system has picked up we need a change now. The best we can hope for is that they get reassigned to coach some of the domestic teams.
I also feel like we need 2 bowling coaches. This is our biggest weakness right now.
If Andy comes back, it will be as MD or Chairman. ZC coach might be a bit beneath his capabilities.
People talking about Andy Flower coming back is laughable. Has he even been back to Zimbabwe since 2003?
It’s not laughable at all. Why’s it laughable?
Very ambitious yes but very much within the scope of reality.
The man to come home after so many years abroad to the country and team he is a national hero. If done right it’s a huge feel good story.
It’ll take some money to do though. But to partner with his brother as National coach and batting coach for the side you bled for 15 years is very possible should the right people commit to making it happen.
