I suspect he's probably looking at an American athletics scholarship to get him into Uni there. He's a wicked 400m runner, which I'm sure is where he got his shin splints from.
To be fair I haven't seen him bowl for a long time, but he's talented at everything so I'm sure he would be fiery. He's a demon centre at rugby as well. It's not often you see someone with his abilities. He's one of those freaky kids that this country miraculously throws out every 3 or 4 years.
Under 19s thread. Players and under 19 matches
Re: Under 19s thread. Players and under 19 matches
I was watching Richardson bowl for Aussie and often the shorter guys have really nasty bouncers. The ball skids off the deck quite a bit quicker than a tall guy. I saw the one Starc short delivery was 145 into the deck and 112 off it. Richardson's would be about 138 in and about 120 off, which probably makes it tougher to face.

Dont think this batch of BD u19 are that good tbh. If they lump us with Somalia and Central African Republic, which is likely, then that would be poor. I'd love to see us up against India, England or West Indies. The organisers should be saying, these Zimbos will never play England again, let's at least give them a warm up charity game.
Aside from not having played against quality U19 sides, the wake up call is going to be the intensity and sledging from the opposition. If there had been a Coca Cola Week in SA in the last couple of years that would have been a help as well, those young South Africans have got a helluva lot to say and that would have also been good prep.
Our lads have literally been thrown to the wolves, it's completely unfair. Playing a dozen games over 6 months against lame pick-up sides of Div 2 club caliber is not going to cut it, they are completely ill-equipped to deal with what's coming. I watched that Namibian debacle on livestream- Saul and particularly Welch looked pretty good, better than our national guys, and what do they do- give them only 2 games? Who makes these stupid decisions? Why not- shit these kids are coping, let's play them every game. No, let's stick with 30 something year olds that we know can't. If that had been a young Madhevere he would have been played every game and been allowed to drive the bus back to the hotel. Sad fact.
I thought ZC were allocated U19 money for at least one tour? Anyway its what we've come to expect and despise.
Oh I heard from my mate this evening that young Erasmus had bad shin splints, hence not being available. Not that he was a guaranteed selection.
I agree totally that they are very badly prepared. There was supposed to be a tour at the start of this month (only to South Africa I think) but that got canned for obvious reasons. Considering the circumstances I think ZC have done relatively well over the past 3 weeks to string together 10 matches against competitive opposition. It's really not ideal though, and you're right it will show next month unfortunately.
Thats interesting on Erasmus. I was under the impression he hadn't played any cricket for a year or two? If the only reason he was unavailable is shin splints then thats promising for the future if he is still interested. Natural talent.

Head coach Naved Newaz was absent during SL tour. He is the main mastermind. Since his return, BD won all the matches of triangular series between BD, India U19 A & B team (U19 team broke into two separate team). Bowling attack is much stronger after the inclusion of U19 champion winner Rakibul & Tanzim of last batch. Batting is still the weak point. Let's see the upcoming U19 Asia cup.slcricfan1 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 22, 2021 12:10 pmDont think this batch of BD u19 are that good tbh. Re: Under 19s thread. Players and under 19 matches
Well if you have a 15 or 16 year old that's good enough to make the side he's not likely to get absorbed into a FC system so he's probably going to make at least one more appearance in U19 WC before he leaves school and can become a full time FC player if he's picked. You'd need to have just turned 15 to make 3 WC appearances, and do a more thorough background check on their actual age. That would be an interesting list- the number of players that had made 3 world cup appearances. If you've got a just turned 15 year old that's better than all your under 19's your system is probably broken.
Age group cheating should be unacceptable and yet there's a number of countries that see nothing wrong with it. That's an interesting list all on it's own. Whether you're a day too old or a decade too old you're not eligible. I've always been curious why ICC turn a blind eye to it. It would be good to ask Rashid Khan and the Afghan Board how they thought it was ok to play in that tournament when he was 24. The dude is universally popular and a great player, but he's a cheat. Guys like Smith and Warner had to at least wring their hands and cry publicly before they were granted absolution, but age cheating has no repercussions, in fact its treated as a bit of a joke, like you stole the last donut off the tray and got caught. All age group cheats should have their day in the sun where they're asked why they're c#$ts.
Is there a difference between sand papering a ball and passing yourself off as an 18 year old when you're in your twenties? If you're too old for the u19 WC and not in a FC system already the likelihood is that you're shit or your Board is willing to cheat to prove they're producing great u19's when they aren't.

This looks like fairly new technology and the article says it's accurate within 4 months.

I dont think it's that they shit. Playing an extra u19 world cup will make these players much more ready for internationals. Look at Wes, he managed to play 3. Also things leg spin are hard and even the best spinners weren't really ready for intenrational or domestic at 19. Look at zampa, he's taken years/ongoing improvement.Googly wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 5:52 amWell if you have a 15 or 16 year old that's good enough to make the side he's not likely to get absorbed into a FC system so he's probably going to make at least one more appearance in U19 WC before he leaves school and can become a full time FC player if he's picked. Yeah mate absolutely. We should have dumped Wes & Milton after 2016 as a 15-year old and never picked them again.Rajkumar Sharma wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 3:31 am
