Tector in a class of his own here. A bit like Stirling in the senior team lol. Some of the Irish dismissals have been pretty poor shots. They don't look a good team.

And that's all over folks rusty Zimbabwe with the win.

Ya this is ending tamely. Decent start for our boys. I can't watch 6 spinners again, that caused me much anxiety.
Ya Schonken took some tap. So hard to read the game off a scorecard though.

Theres three decent seamers on tour and Dube in particular is pretty good. Can't understand why none played unless they are all injured or riddled with Covid or something. But I guess it's just a practice match, so who cares.
Comfortable enough win in the end, and nice that they got Tector for the final wicket. Plenty of starts with the bat and several chipping in with wickets - so a good team performance.
Good start. Now lets beat them another three times.

Just heard the selection panel for the squad was Utseya, Chigumbura and Kyle Jarvis with Moses Chitare the Convenor of selectors. Interesting. Moses has been a school coach for a long time but thats a very sudden and large promotion out of the blue.
Re: 2022 U19 World Cup Thread
So is Jarvis there or is he selecting long distance ?
Re: 2022 U19 World Cup Thread
I doubt Jarvis has ever seen one of these guys play before?

Selected the squad before departure. Neither he nor Chitare are on tour AFAIK. I guess selection of the XI is down to Utseya.
Re: 2022 U19 World Cup Thread
I meant for the team that actually plays on any given day?
I don't think Chitare has any cricketing credentials whatsoever.
U19's should have level 4 coaches, if not level 3 at least, they're an international side.

If it's the guy I'm thinking of then he's been around schools for a long time in Harare/Mash. Think he might have been a teacher/coach at Prince Edward way back at the turn of the century and then moved on to Hellenic? But I mean to become convenor of selectors for a world cup from seemingly nowhere is a massive promotion. He must have done a fair amount of bottom-caressing to land that job recently.
