My XI against the island nation is below
1) Chakabva
2) Kaitano
3) Ervine
4) Williams
5) Shumba
6) Madhevere
7) Raza
8) Burl
9) Chatara ( or Tiripano )
10) Muzarabani
11) Ngarava
Kaitano really looked good as long as he lasted at the crease today, got great temperament in the longest format but he seems to have the shots in his repertoire to also up the ante a little bit in the shorter format. As regards slow bowlers or spinners, Williams, Raza, Burl, Madhevere and Shumba all can chip in with 5 to 6 overs each at the very least so there is no need for a specialist in the spin department. With Burl coming in at 8th, the batting depth is reasonably strong. Tiripano can come in for Chatara if he fails to impress in the first ODI. And I would also bring in Wellington for second ODI if the condition in the first ODI is conducive for spinning bowling. In all, a lot will depend on how well the batters can cope with Hasaranga's venom, if Zimbabwean batters could keep him at bay then chances of winning at least one of the three ODIs is very possible IMO.
Northerns Vs Southerns (Sri Lanka Pre-Camp)
Re: Northerns Vs Southerns (Sri Lanka Pre-Camp)
There is no place for Jongwe if I were the selector, his batting has gone downhill big time, and his bowling contribution is not that impressive to earn him a place in the team. I saw on Twitter once like he was bragging about becoming the best all-rounder in the
and he is absolutely going the very opposite route. And he may disappear into oblivion if he does not do something or work on his batting coz he was not as bad with bat in hand as he is now. And he seems overweight as well.

6) Raza
7) Burl
8) Masakadaza (Batting is good enough to be at number 8)
9) Jongwe/Tiripano
10) Blessing
11) Ngarvara

Need a specialist spinner in there. Masakadza is a better bowler than all the above part timers.lobsang wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 3:27 pmMy XI against the island nation is below

Did J.Campbell play today? Any prospect of seeing him in national kit?

Agree with this generally. Except I'd have Tiripano absolutely nowhere near the tour.
Also harsh on Shumba perhaps. Do we need both Raza and Burl in the same eleven?

No not today. I'm sure he'll get a chance in third 2nd or 3rd game. Will have to produce something very special to get on tour as both Raza and Burl are ahead of him.saifulsohel05 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 3:55 pmDid J.Campbell play today? Any prospect of seeing him in national kit?
He's on the fringes. Not far off. I think he will play for Zimbabwe one day.

What about Willo? He didn't play today.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 3:57 pmNo not today. I'm sure he'll get a chance in third 2nd or 3rd game. If Willo's on his way out soon, which he very easily could be. Is Jono Campbell his replacement?
Re: Northerns Vs Southerns (Sri Lanka Pre-Camp)
Not sure that we will see Campbell in Zim colour, his batting is a better than his bowling but he needs some big scores at franchise level first. He struggles to get a game for the Rhinos at times.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 3:57 pmNo not today. I'm sure he'll get a chance in third 2nd or 3rd game. Lol are you calling Masakadza a specialist? I mean Masakadza is no Hasaranga, no Ashwin, No Rashid Khan. He may be a little
bit better than, I am saying just maybe, Burl, Williams, Madhevere and Raza but they are not far behind. Burl can really be more than useful and in fact, if he works harder on his bowling, he could become a lethal weapon in the mid overs for Zimbabwe than any other spinners in the team. Masakadza I have seen over the years is a go-with-motion bowler, unlike Hasaranga, Rashid, Ashwin and Zampa who always bowl to get wickets.
