State of SA
Re: State of SA
Listening to KP Jr's interview, he's impressive. I'm now a big fan.

Not a massive fan if I'm honest. He's good, in fairness, but he's nowhere near Van Tonder or Verreyne. Keegan Peterson looks like he's one for the future. Very simple technique but solid!
Aiden Markrham may have average numbers at the minute but he's still only 27 and has stratospheric potential. They need to somehow, somewhere, get big Raynard in there. He's probably the most naturally gifted batter in South Africa next to AM.
Re: State of SA
I’ve always said Markram should move down the order, even at first drop would be better for him imo. I liked what I saw from Eddie Moore & he’s at the right age with the right amount of first class experience to make the step up imo.
This South African side looks like everyone is batting one spot too high imo, move everyone down one, replace Bavuma with Malan & I think it’s looks a lot better
Elgar
Moore
Markram

Malan

I’m not sure about that Verreyyne guy, the way he defends the ball in his pads looks so awkward, haven’t seen much of him to be honest though.

South Africa is in rebuilding phase after the retirement of so many greats of the game, they needs time to settle and put off those outside controversy

Think at this stage, we just need to be patient and wait 3 4 years and SA will begin to pop off. The bowling attack looks very formidable in particularsloandog wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 6:13 pmNot a massive fan if I'm honest. He's good, in fairness, but he's nowhere near Van Tonder or Verreyne. Verreyne is a gun in white ball crixket. Not sure he has the defense at the minute for test cricket, yet he's still a massive talent for aouth Africa. Eddie Moore is indeed a good shout, and so is Roefleson
Re: State of SA
Do you think Temba is good enough at test level Solan? I know he is getting some runs here but he has got 1 century in 46 games, that is enough to convince me that he is not as good as even say JP Duminy or Ashwell Prince.
Amongst colored players, esp Black players, who do you see as coming through ? That is actually more important.

Re: State of SA
Bavuma probably has the best technique in South Africa. I don't think many would argue against that. He cuts and pulls with ease and recently that straight drive has come from nowhere.
Tony De Zorzi is an exciting batter up top. Makwetu is another. To be honest, though, there aren't many back African batter banging the door down.

This test match is very evenly poised and very entertaining to watch. South Africa have done well to get where they are, but you just can’t trust their batting at the moment (I can’t believe how inexperienced their side is atm).
I don’t know why they picked Maharaj? Was it a quota pick? They have 4 black players but he’s the only other coloured guy so I guess they’re one short of their target?
Playing a spinner on a pitch like this against India and not bowling him bat one over is the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen in a while.
Another batsman would have been real handy right about now & im sure that along with the incredible amount of extras they have away will come back to haunt them.
