Heard this from someone. Hopefully true;

Zimbabwe win.

Rain-affected game. Zimbabwe 208 all out (48 overs). Canada needed 185 on D/L from 38 overs. All out for 183. Zim win by two runs.
Good if true mate. I think warm ups are not given much importance here, once the real thing starts we will have some decent ball by ball updates and some games broadcasted live.

Panashe Taruvinga top scored with 47. Tashinga Makoni got 39.

Mitchell experimented opening the batting

Wickets spread amongst the bowlers and a few run-outs I think.

Apparently the 4 Covid players have now tested negative and rejoining the group tomorrow. No other cases in the squad.

I don't think Saul, Welch, Zvinoera or Mataranyika played Vs Canada so they must be the 4 that had Covid.

Our prodigy Emmanuel Bawa so far hasn't raised his hand in all the warm-up games. Hopefully he can turn it on the the tournament proper. Last tournament Schadendorf was the best Zim U19 player in the warm-ups, but didn't do much in the WC proper, where Bawa (bat) and Madhevere (bowl) shined. He's a big lad, broad shoulders, good technique and relatively experienced, being the top or amongst the top run scorers in this tournament can do a lot of good for his career, he could get a lucrative contract at a good cricket club abroad. If he chooses to pursue international cricket with us co-hosting the 2027 ODI WC, that could be his tournament to attain greatness

You sound like a Herald sports writer. He's not a prodigy, nor a starlet for that matter, he's just a good cricketer that's short of runs.
Also there's no such thing as a lucrative club contract. A decent club deal is free board and lodging and about £200-£300 a week, it gives you some nice beer money.
He's not made runs at school level so he's going to need to make some changes if he's going to do well at club level.
Once he finishes school in the UK he probably runs into visa problems if he's not going to Uni there. He'd probably need a Tier 5 visa.
He's not attaining "greatness" if he spends 3-4 years at a UK university either. He'd need to get stuck into our Zim cricket and hope for a miracle because our club and franchise cricket does not foster "greatness." He'd also need to do particularly well in our franchise stuff to get a look in for our national side. As ordinary as it is, competition for places is still competitive, there are some good players vying for spots. He's a middle order batsman that doesn't bowl, already he's made life difficult for himself.
Go easy on the sugar.

As poor as the top order have been, there's no plan to throw a number 6-8 batsman into the deep end of opening. They'd need a very lucky day at this level.
If you bat someone out of position and they're not used to it, they're going to struggle.

I think Saul and Welch had the Omicron sniffles and didn't know it, but still had to isolate for a disease so dangerous to youngsters I'll guarantee they didnt know they had it and weren't even medicated. The world needs to wake up to this scam. Flu affects youngsters more than this. Bad hangovers are more dangerous for them.
I think it's too late to experiment with the openers, maybe if we get knocked out and we're in the plate and not doing well there either, then someone else can have a lash at it.

They could ask for volunteers when they face the 7ft fire breathing Pakistani

We're not talking about Taruvinga enough, I've just read that match report. He's the 15 year old isn't he?
I think he's done really well so far. We need some in-depth background info on him, if he's 15 and doing this he's a real prospect! He's in danger of becoming a starlet prodigy.
