2022 U19 World Cup Thread
Re: 2022 U19 World Cup Thread
If u guys think Brevis is a good bat take a look at Bethel from England. He's got everything.

I just Googled these two.BostonZimbo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:11 pmThis England team is special. That Bethell innings against SA was incredible and that Rehan Ahmed kid looks very good
Bethel is actually West Indian!!! Maybe the greatest white talent to ever emerge from the Caribbean. I thought there was too much flair there. How fascinating is that!! It would have been excellent if he'd played for West Indies, maybe he left because he saw there were no opportunities for a white guy?

We're kneeling for the wrong people in cricket at least.
Ahmed is already contracted by Leicestershire.
Prest is proper as well.

Where have we seen that before apart from Zim, SA, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, USA, Uganda, Nigeria, West Indies, Canada, UAE, Afghanistan, PNG and Pakistan?

Bethell, 17, son of former outstanding domestic and Barbados Under-19 batsman Graham Bethell, and the grandson of Arthur Bethell who played 16 matches for the senior Barbados side between 1963 and 1970 went to England three years ago on a scholarship and is currently on the books at Warwickshire.
Jacob represented Barbados at the regional Under-15 level and was recognised by many – including batting great Brian Lara – as one of the top junior prospects in the Caribbean.
Today, Bethell was offered congratulations by the president of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) Conde Riley, who described the former Harrison College student’s preference to play for England as “nothing new” and said there was nothing the local cricket governing body could do about it.
Please dont make stuff out of nothing

You did. He's entitled to whatever career path is open to him. But the fact remains that they probably could have done more to retain him. There's no guarantee he will play for England but its a dead cert that he's good enough to play international cricket for WI, he's got a huge future in the WI.

Re: 2022 U19 World Cup Thread
He can always move back to WI of course if he doesn't make it for England. A Warwickshire contract is probably worth 10x more than he'd get playing for the local Barbados association, so I don't blame him really.
At least it means we can keep up the jokes about none of the English team being English for longer though
(Also: re white talent out of the Windies - see Joshua Da Silva!)

It would be interesting to see what WI rookie and senior FC contracts actually are. In fact all the nations.
English rookie contracts are shit, but then it goes up fairly steeply to about £5000 and then the senior guys are probably on 8 upwards.
We should see this guy this coming season, it will be very interesting to see how he goes. He looks bloody amazing. That blitz against SA was jaw dropping.
