The ICC haven't yet released info about Group A T20 WC Qualifier that is scheduled to happen next month. Obviously Zim are in the other group but we are almost into Feb and there is no update.

Afghanistan officially postponed, as previously expected.

It's just complete bollocks again though isn't it. ZC have meekly offered 'lack of DRS equipment availability' as a reason.   All of our home fixtures over the past two years have had No DRS.

Afghanistan's own series last week with the Netherlands had no DRS.

What's the betting that whenever this series does eventually happen, there definitely still won't be DRS anyway!
Thats a plausible reason actually. DRS equipment is actually in fairly short supply and there is quite a bit of cricket going on (U19 world cup, Women's Ashes although idk if they use DRS). Its an important series for ZIM and not having DRS could be a real prohibitive factor.

Yeah Perhaps, but we’ve never bothered with it before (annoyingly). And Afghanistan aren’t usually bothered either, so it’s surprising that either team suddenly care.

As well as being in short supply it’s also very very expensive to install and operate. So I’ll be (pleasantly) surprised if we ever have it for a home series with Afghanistan!

I'm ok with DRS but for the small poor countries I don't think it should be necessary. Trust the umpires, have one from each country or whatever and get on with the cricket. I'd rather 95%or so of the experience rather than no matches.

I read somewhere that Aus were paying $2m for DRS for their Big Bash. I don't know how many DRS outfits are floating around, but someone is making a lot of money out of it. Is it one company that controls them all, or are they separately owned? Im sure there's some patented technolgy there somewhere as well. Its always good to know who owns them, there's always some kind of mafia hook-up with someone.
They need 6 cameras , a couple with infra red and a couple of sharp microphones. There's at least 3 different versions of Snicko already. I'd bet most of this technology is off the shelf stuff that could be purchased off Amazon and modified slightly.

It's been a long time since this was discussed, but what happened to our broadcasting truck? I recall Bvute- Botswana?? something along those lines.

Not sure if millions is fair but the tech is expensive.

From a cost benefit perspective it should not be an impediment to playing.

Just have umpires from both countries. This trend of having umpires from the host country only needs to stop. That last Kaitano stumping was inconclusive on camera but they pushed it their way. So DRS is still tricky even with home umpires. The 50/50 umpires call decision can still be manipulated if all your umpires are from the host country.

I was just reading up about ball tracking and Ishikawa University made a major breakthrough with a camera that automatically tracks high speed objects without having to swing heavy cameras around. They were looking at it to track ice hockey pucs. There's adaptable technology right there.
Not having DRS is just a story which nobody will query except here.
