2022 U19 World Cup Thread

It also has something to do with then being a few years too old for the tournament. It helps.

Their players were half the size of the ZIM boys. I saw a video of them dancing after the SL win and none of the players looked like they even started shaving yet. Which is odd because 50% of Asian boys have full beards by the time they are 15. I think you guys have been confusing the coaches and support staff for the players.

Bangladesh's quest to defend their trophy ends with a modicum of fightback. This was the worst batting unit Bangladesh have put out in recent memory and the bowling wasn't as good as it should have been. In particular Rakibul and Tanzim who excelled in 2020, regressed quite alarmingly in this tournament. Ripon Mondol did well and looks to have something about his bowling.
Hopefully the next batch will do better. You only need an average of 2-3 players from each group who can really kick on at the next level.

Bangladesh had talent and skills to defend the title but overconfidence and overexcitement destroyed them. How a new batsman with just few balls batting at 4 with team under huge pressure can play a switch hit ?Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:58 pmBangladesh's quest to defend their trophy ends with a modicum of fightback. Same thing was seen in Asia Cup, they didn't back their skills and showed any kind of respect to the opposition and the condition.

I don't think this Bangladesh team had the skills. They lost to Sri Lanka 5-0 just before the WC. Our 2018 team was also very weak before the 2020 team which was the 2nd best side in the world (had a good day vs #1 India in the final).Rajkumar Sharma wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 3:48 amBangladesh had talent and skills to defend the title but overconfidence and overexcitement destroyed them. Bangladesh played well in that tri nation series in india, and were favourites for this WC. Problem with them is not in skill but mindset. In 2020 Bangladesh batters had game awareness, this time it looked completely out of sorts, started showing lots of overexcitement and went for hitting. They did'nt worked on the basics of the game situation.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 4:29 amI don't think this Bangladesh team had the skills. They lost to Sri Lanka 5-0 just before the WC. Dont think anyone was calling BD favourites, esp after their Asia cup performanceRajkumar Sharma wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 5:30 amBangladesh played well in that tri nation series in india, and were favourites for this WC. Yeah BD weren't even favorites in 2020. I myself knew we were the 2nd best side in the world, but BD usually always chokes in the knockouts and I was like I'll be satisfied if they can make the semis and then compete there. The Final was a bit of a surprise, but winning it was a matter of everything falling into place which is slightly rare.
This 2022 team was nowhere near that level.

Its Poms against the Afghans in first semi. Going to be exciting as the knockouts has been low scoring encounters, with both pacers and spinners are getting enough purchase from the tracks.
Re: 2022 U19 World Cup Thread
England have lost their 2 best batsmen cheaply. I was looking forward to watching them blitz these guys, but its going to be tight.
