Rain delay making this interesting.

That last wicket partnership might have saved mountaneers ass here especially if the rain sticks around.
Muchawaya can hit a long ball. Think he hit a really fast 50 recently too

I think they are planning to play the postponed Pro50 final this week. Then there are another three 4-day games, Northerns/Southerns starting next week.
So much red ball cricket. Great to an extent but like I say, it's going to look ridiculous when we play 6 days of T20 cricket in a world cup year

Congrats Tuskers

I think next season they should organise 2 or even 3 T20 weeks during the season. The NPL should be a T20 competition in my opinion. It is very possible to find a handy T20 player from club competitions. Very possible. 1 week won't cut it in this era.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 12:08 amI think they are planning to play the postponed Pro50 final this week. The only thing I can say is good about playing so much FC cricket is that I think it helps the younger players develop their game more than the short stuff. For example I'm sure Marumani is a much better player all round than he was 6 months ago. Short form cricket doesn't give you enough time out there to work on your game. I think Wellington and Madande have also really improved.
It also exposes people who need to work on their game. Like now it's very obvious that Burl has to work on his batting and can't live on potential anymore. He hasn't had a score past 20 in the 3 games he played after Sri Lanka. His FC average has gone from 40+ to below 35.

It is much easier to learn T20 from a FC base of skills than the other way around.

Yes but then is it easier to learn T20 skills from a red ball base or a 50 over base?
To be a good T20 player, particularly an opener you need to be technically sound and ideally play some quality conventional cricket shots with the odd T20 shot thrown in.
You will derive mire benefit from 50 over stuff than 4 day but at the end of the day you still need to play plenty of T20's, it's evolved into its own unique game with it its own strategies.

Taps has the right idea, they just need to play more than 1 T20 tournament.
I’m happy with them playing it in 1-week windows, but just do it multiple times.
Have a season-opening T20 week tournament.
Then play half the Logan Cup.
Then have a Christmas T20 week.
Then play the second half of the Logan Cup
Then the season-ending T20 tournament.
And chuck the Pro50 in either as a block somewhere or alongside the Logan games each week.
And whenever they get round to bringing the NPL back, play that in the T20 format.
I hope they have some decent prep plans in the month or two leading up to the Qualifier or else we are going to be completely undercooked in what is already our worst format. Maybe they are planning Northern/Southern in T20 as well at the end of the season, idk.
