Muzarabani had to come in for someone. Would probably have dropped Nyauchi but chivanga seems fair as well.
Obviously Evans is the golden boy at the moment after last ODI. Ngarava you feel its a make or break tour for him to australia. He needs to be more than a 1-2 wickets a match kinda guy
Zimbabwe squad to australia
Re: Zimbabwe squad to australia
BT and Andy flower maintained average of 35 plus playing more than 200 games and that is why they are the greatest zimbabwe ever had ..I believe Raza will also end somewhere in that rangesecretzimbo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:44 pmJust thought I'd highlight current ODI averages for the batters in this squad;
Batting averages:
Raza: 37.38 (115 innings)
Williams: 35.01 (140 innings)
Kaia: 30.11 (9 innings)
Munyonga: 29.00 (3 innings)
Evans: 24.00 (4 innings)
Madande: 24.00 (1 innings)
Burl: 22.45 (27 innings)
Chakabva: 21.34 (54 innings)
Madhevere: 19.57 (21 innings)
Kaitano: 15.28 (7 innings)
Jongwe: 13.92 (29 innings)
Marumani: 9.16 (6 innings)
It's not great reading. Such an inexperienced lineup though.
Re: Zimbabwe squad to australia
Looks like muzurabani ngarava to share new ball and Brad evans to be first change.
Not a bad looking attack. I hope Ngarava gets it right. Blessing as we know is a class act

Re: Zimbabwe squad to australia
Ah! That explains. Great to see Blessing back. I think for the first time we will see the trio of Blessing, Evans and Ngarava operate together. Not a bad time to do that considering T20 WC is just over a month away and also in Australia.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 12:40 pmThink it's been said they had to apply for visas a few weeks ago, so no chance of any alternatives coming in really.
Nice to see Blessing back!! Massive shame about Craig though. Really feel for him.
Re: Zimbabwe squad to australia
I would rather see 30 overs of spin.aussies have seen much better fast bowlers than these.i am afraid there will be a zim batting collapse. Need to drive properly down the ground thro cover and leg to be successful in aus.which zim batsman does that?
I can think of bt?

Only two decent averages and the third is too small a sample size, propped up by a Bangladesh century.
Is there a way to repost of just playing against top 8 sides?

Vs Top 8:
Raza: 34.58 (49 innings)
Williams: 30.34 (58 innings)
Kaia: 8.66 (3 innings)
Munyonga: 15.00 (1 innings)
Evans: 35.00 (3 innings)
Madande: N/AA
Burl: 17.50 (7 innings)
Chakabva: 15.76 (21 innings)
Madhevere: 18.00 (7 innings)
Kaitano: 21.40 (5 innings)
Jongwe: 11.42 (9 innings)
Marumani: 8.00 (1 inning)
I think I've worked them out right. Don't take as gospel.
Too small sample size for most. Really highlights how few games we play against good teams. That's why I feel uneasy criticising players for not scoring runs against India (soon to be Australia). Pretty much impossible just to step up instantly with no experience....

I would have picked Kevin Kasuza & John Masara (spin option) for Takudzwanashe Kaitano & Tadiwanashe Marumani.

Re: Zimbabwe squad to australia
Time period is also critical. Setting May 1, 2015 as the starting date of the "current era" of ODI cricket gives this (vs AUS, BD, ENG, IND, NZ, PAK, SA, SL):
Kohli 64.19 (83 innings)
Rohit 60.56 (81 innings)
Root 53.36 (80 innings)
Babar 53.32 (65 innings)
Warner 52.12 (66 innings)
Mushfiqur 47.37 (46 innings)
Stokes 47.32 (60 innings)
Williamson 45.98 (70 innings)
Hope 45.10 (73 innings)
Smith 43.70 (62 innings)
Raza 42.81 (47 innings)
Williams 37.81 (37 innings)
Taylor 35.21 (19 innings)
Munyonga 29.00 (3 innings)
Chakabva 28.31 (19 innings)
H Masakadza 28.26 (34 innings)
Sibanda 26.00 (8 innings)
I Kaia 25.50 (6 innings)
Evans 24.00 (4 innings)
Ervine 23.57 (29 innings)
Musakanda 23.33 (9 innings)
Madhevere 21.56 (16 innings)
Burl 21.25 (9 innings)
Tiripano 19.91 (19 innings)
Moor 17.61 (23 innings)
Kaitano 15.28 (7 innings)
Jongwe 15.00 (14 innings)
Marumani 9.16 (6 innings)
As we can see, the absolutely elite batters average well over 50+. Raza is the only one who averages above 40 for Zimbabwe.
