December: Afghanistan - 1 Test (unlikely), 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is
Jan 2023: Ireland - 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is
Feb 2023: Windies - 2 Tests

all at home.

Pakistan were supposed to come for an 'A' Series last January but 'delayed' due to omicron. Sounds like they are still coming, which is good.

One thing we have to agree on is that this is Zimbabwe's best bowling attack since 1999. I'm not doubting this for sure, and we still do not have Blessing and Chatara playing.

I actually think Chatara would have been a handful in those conditions. Credit to Nyauchi tho, that Steve Smith wicket was huge.

I would play nyauchi and Evans over anyone else.need to move the ball. That's what troubles batsmen from sides like ind and aus..straight and fast and wide of he crease does not work .may be works against Bangladesh barely....

Glad I stayed up late to watch the end of the game. When we lost our fifth wicket I figured it was likely over, but credit to Chakabva for seeing us home - Chakabva really does step up in foreign conditions, I remember him doing well in NZ also. Amazing to think we beat a full-strength Australia with Raza and Williams contributing nothing with the bat, and missing Ervine and Muzarabani. A most bizarre game. This certainly ranks up there will the all time great achievements:

1983: beating Australia at the CWC - perhaps this remains our greatest ever win due that we came from absolutely nowhere to stun the world.

1995: First ever test win, against Pakistan no less.

1996/97: The entire England tour of Zimbabwe.

1998: Winning Test Series in Pakistan 1-0.

1999: Beating India and South Africa at the CWC.

2001: Winning ODI Series in NZ 2-1.

2013: Test victory against Pakistan.

2017: Winning ODI Series in Sri Lanka 3-2

2022: Away ODI victory against Australia.

I offer my congratulations to you for your victory. You guys must be still pinching yourselves to check if it's all real. This result makes a mockery of any CA decision not to host countries they deem as unsuitable as they are not economical.. (such as the cancelled Bangladesh tour a couple of years ago).
I hope the experience of the last couple of months opens doors to Zimbabwe for more international exposure. I hope your blokes go home with great memories & were able to mix with the aussies & gain benefits from what they saw, experienced & talked about.
It undoubtedly boosts your confidence coming back to Oz later this year.
From another thread, I'd like to hear from Houghton which victory was greater - this one or 1983? I think he'd say this one. He got a golden duck in '83.

I’m going to go extreme negative Nelly here and post what will be a very unpopular opinion.

This victory was not all that good.
Good, but not amazing like is being said.

A few observations:
Home ground advantage:
‘First time we have beaten Australia at home’.
This is technically correct, but they played in Townsville. I’m the Tropics. They have never played there before either and these are foreign conditions for them considering 95+% of the population live below the tropics line.
Harare would feel more at home to these players than Townsville.

Burl brilliance:
Not saying he bowled badly but this haul was a complete fluke. This one I’m certain of.

Two wild stupid swings, a dolly from the worst full toss you’ll see, and two tail Enders is more luck than brilliant bowling.

Total:
We won off the back of such a low target being posted.
We were 7/141.
If we batted first, or if we were batting out the innings for soem reason, we would not have ousted a total larger than 170, absolute max. Is that really well played?
We won this on the back of Regis’ cool head. So again, leaving it up to one player.

Also, when Australia capitulates THAT quickly you know that it is a statistical anomaly of some sort. Yes, Zimbabwe bowled well, but this is more of a case of Australia not taking it serious and showing up and playing stupid then being dominated by us.

Honestly, the best work was from the quicks.

So yes, whilst it was good. The truth is a little bit more bland.
