Re: KLUSENER

I'm very annoyed about this really, it makes no sense for this to happen literally on the same day the squad is flying to Australia. My instinct is that an argument has erupted between Lance and ZC over his other gigs, and ZC has sort of lost it's temper and just terminated his contract.

It's unfortunate, especially the timing. Although I have to say, I would rather have a full-time coach. Kirby the bowling coach has moved to Zimbabwe - a massive commitment - and thats the level of commitment and input we need.

I'm quite sad though. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Klusener singing along to every word of the Zim anthem during one of the matches in the summer (India I think) and clearly he had a big impact. Raza said when he first came in that he's his favourite coach he's ever worked with - and then look at the string of performances that followed! Huge credit to Klusener, clearly did a lot of good work in a very short time. He will be hard to replace.

Knowing our board it will probably take six months to replace him as well.

It's not a good look for him though - he left Afghanistan very quickly and then left us within six months. If you were hiring a coach for a national side/franchise in the future you'd certainly be wary of that record.

Although I don't mind us recruiting an experienced county batting coach too. It might be time to just try a different approach

I wonder where Mr Houghton stands in all of this?
I don't see him being too impressed by Klusener attempting to basically be a part time batting coach for Zim.
