Eagles have six games left in the 50 over comp. More than enough time for nick Welch to make a mark. Is there reasonable evidence to suggest he is interested in a Zimbabwe return?
He's out of contract in England. But I'm sure he's going to get offers from somewhere. He's too good not to.

He's registering as an Overseas player, so that would suggest he isn't interested (at the moment).

Here's Akeem's profile; https://www.espncricinfo.com/player/ake ... an-1161669 Nice to have an overseas bowler for once

Anyone know where Welch Jr is though? It's a shame he isn't involved this season.

Nick Welch to play for Eagles this season. Also Akeem Jordan from Barbados.
That’s interesting that a Windies player has come out for the domestic season.

When is their domestic season? I would have thought similar time to Zimbabwe’s?
I think they usually start around February?

Matt Welch had a bad back injury, and still struggling with it 6 months later. He's very keen on the cricket, hopefully he rehabs well, but I'd guess he won't be able to risk keeping again which is unfortunate because thats where the gap is coming.
Nick Welch has been re-signed by Leicestershire, I'm not sure why he agreed, they don't give him the games he deserves. I've never seen a promising batsman get jammed up like this before, it's a disgrace how he's been treated and he must be down on confidence.
I think he's hoping for a full and good T20 season first and foremost, but wants to play all formats and is good enough to, but there's a problem there clearly. Leicestershire lose practically every game they play and yet persevere with the same line up, it's beyond bizarre.

Let’s see how he goes over here. Might be the kickstart to his career that Compton had.

If eagles get their national players back they could have at some point a top five of Chakabva, Welch, Marumani, Madhevere, Ervine :o

And a bowling unit of Ngarava, Evans, Chivanga and this Akeem guy!!!

Ya Compton finished about 4th in the red ball rankings, and from nowhere really before that. It's a game of tiny margins separating good from really good. If you score a hundred in County the next team you play is ready for you. They watch the film and have a game plan and a field setting waiting, and the bowlers are accurate enough to execute.
I've never heard of Akeem. Has he played international cricket?

Maybe because of the fallacy of sunk costs, he's come this far to turn back now.

Do you know how long he extended for?

Was just wondering... will Williams ever play another domestic match? He just seems to turn up in the internationals and turn on the heat right away. All kinds of ugly questions might surface if he loses his form a bit (in which case he might just retire the 79th time).

No. He mostly plays limited over stuff. He has played for West Indies A in this format.
Seems to be stuck behind several others in the Barbados fast bowling production line.

Thank you for this. Saw the video pop up on my Youtube, but listening to Douggie speak is tough going.
