Domestic T20 (Feb 20th-26th)

Post by zimfan1 »

There we go. A one week domestic T20 comp starting next week. The Lions are also included as the winner of the NPL Club T20.

Lol hilarious. Even after the various improvements ZC have made recently, they still insist on a fucking 6-day T20 comp

At least there may still be a few of the overseas guys around I suppose. And at least the Lions (academy side) are playing

But really the length of this is a disgrace

And it’s in Harare as usual and probably OH will see every match abandoned due to the permanent wet outfield

I don’t get it, like surely a domestic t20 tournament is the cheapest to run and you’d get overseas guys for cheap too cause they’re already here.

Why not make it a two week tournament at the very least, I’m sure they could turn a buck for it with all the good vibes around cricket in the country at the moment.

And it's such an important format. Surely DH and Dirk should step in and persuade these guys to change the plan?
It's just a disgrace.

Plus we need lights at HSC and need to drag our cricket kicking and screaming into the 20th century.

What's the role of Dirk in ZC?

I'm not sure?
You've got Makoni who basically gave his job to Masakadza and created a window dressing post for himself.
I think Masakdza is Director of Cricket, Dirk is probably Operations Manager.
Then there's Tino whom I believe is Marketing Mgr. Either he hasn't got a budget to do anything meaningful or his heart is not in it. He's the guy who needs to be looking for corporate sponsorship. I'm sure his hands are a bit tied.
Dirk Viljoen is an interesting addition, that's a big surprise.

If only it was open book and you knew what everyone was supposed to be doing. None of these posts look too demanding because not a lot appears to have changed.
I'm sure one guy could do the job of all 3. Its smoke and mirrors.
It would be good if a semi literate who had a vague interest in cricket kept us updated on Social Media.

I didn’t even know Dirk or Tino had roles?! Thought they were just commentators  would be interesting to find out what they do.

I’m pretty sure Darlington does the Marketing, or at least he did last year.

Just had a look at the fixtures and at least each team plays 5 games, a bit relentless playing a game a day though, no wonder we get so many injures

I presume there will be a final as well? So 2 teams get 6.

Ideally this would be spread over 3 weeks with teams playing each other twice.

Its good to see the Lions getting a go although I have no idea who will play for them as every player plays for one of the big teams.
