It defeats the object of the exercise if Durham and Glamorgan come to Zim and play each other
They surely have to mix up our best 25 players and and those guys get some good exposure in 3 or 4 day plus the white ball stuff. They'll be here for about 25 days so that should be a minimum of 6 games per County, making it 12 games in total. I don't see that happening.

So what are they here for primarily? The weather?

Apparently Durham and Glamorgan are playing each other in a 3-day match. I hear there is no red-ball cricket Vs Zimbabwe/local teams planned.

Then there will be a range of T20 and one day matches Vs 'local teams'.
Durham will play three T20 fixtures and two 50 over matches against "Zimbabwean opposition"

yeah its a shame they aren't playing any red ball against us.

I'd think full-strength Northerns and Southerns teams would be pretty competitive against a pre-season County in that format.

So instead of a potential 12 games we play 5? Surely they should rethink that? 4 50 over games and 6 T20's should be the bare minimum. It's annoying.

It's not far fetched for them to play each other. Happens all the time in teams pre-season training camps.

This is what this is for them. A pre-season training camp. They are in Zim for acclimation, and match preparedness. They will be doing fitness drills, training drills, and then obviously play games.

They don't HAVE to play Zim teams. They can play against each other as that is the standard they will get in their comps and it's an opportunity to see at what level their teams are at in relation to the competition they will face in their season.

So two teams could conceivably hire the indoor and Old Georgians cricket ground for a month and play each other only. There's actually nothing stopping them doing that.
If the money was right I'm sure they could book a ZC ground.

Err...yes.

Cricket teams have been doing this for ages. It's not a new thing. They were doing this regularly in the UAE for the past few years.

They don't have to play a Zim team. Yes, ZC must be better at this and try and arrange some games, but we don't get to decide what other sides do for their pre-season training.

They were invited here, that's the difference, they didn't check Zim out as pre-season cricket destination like Spain.

I'm just saying we should have squeezed 3 or 4 more games out of them

We have 5 games against Durham alone. That doesn’t include fixtures against Glamorgan yet. So still possibly quite a lot of cricket for us
