I don't know how much discussions take place between franchise coaches and the players themselves. A coach will probably listen to recommendations from the captain and not anyone else. Once you start asking for opinions it may be misconstrued as weakness/uncertainty and that's not how it works here

Doesn anyone know what the players will be doing until the final round of Logan cup fixtures which isn’t until the end of the next month?

Should we expect some regional t20 matches? Or possibly the games v the county sides will take centre stage?

Information will be leaked via their informal mouthpieces 2 days prior to the next game

The bowling changes, batting line-ups and field settings in this tournament have been confusing.

One of my pet peeves is that the domestic level captains have no chance of graduating to national level leadership role. And that role is also like some musical chairs. A new captain for every round of the Logan Cup and so on. The captains are either:
1. Has-beens like Maruma / Richie who will not even find a place in the national team, let alone captaining
2. Relatively irrelevant folks (when it comes to leadership) like Carl Mumba / Marshall Takodza / Nkosana Mpofu - who, again, won't even make it to the team, let alone captaining

So, we aren't even nurturing the leadership at the lower levels - guys like Munyonga, Innocent Kaia, Wes, Shumba / Madande, Burl are the ones who must be captaining the domestic teams, ideally.

In any case, this still doesn't explain why Burl alone would have such restrictions in batting higher anyway. I remember he demanded to open for Tuskers and had to sit on the sidelines for a season, but sticking to 7 at domestic T20s with depleted squads is inexplicable.

Burl clearly sees himself as a big hitter with the bat (in T20s) - that’s the only way he ever plays nowadays even when he ends up coming in earlier in the innings.

If you are that sort of player then ideally you either open or you play as a finisher. The middle order 3-4-5-6 is pretty stacked at national team level anyway currently. So either he should open or keep honing his skills as a finisher at 7.

I think you said the Dutch series starts on the 20th or something like that?

Next 2-3 week will be the County tours for sure. That should be the focus, hopefully we field a strong northern and southern side in those fixtures.

The Vigne Cup still hasn’t started. Looks like they are turning it into a winter league
