Zimbabwe Cricket MD Givemore Makoni has announced the advent of the Zim Afro T10, the first full member nation in Africa to adopt the growing format.
“It will bring in stars from all over the world”, said Makoni. “The people who we are used to watching on TV will be in our country.”

6 franchises, double round robin. Harare, Bulawayo, Cape Town, Durban, Nairobi, and Windhoek the teams.

I see Mr Mangwana is all over this, which surely can’t be a good thing. Seems shady as fuck, the government are well involved and these Indian investors must surely have ulterior motives?
Yet another league played purely to service the Indian gambling and fantasy XI companies.
When is it, August? All the top talent will be in the Hundred, and Major League Cricket, and CPL starts not long after, plus there’s loads of international cricket on too.
So it’s being played entirely in Harare but we have teams named after other cities in other countries? Will they even have a Namibian or Kenyan player at all?
Also they are bringing floodlights in but I don’t understand that actually, surely our evening is less appetising for the Indian tv market? I don’t understand that.
I dislike the entire thing, especially the T10 format, but hopefully at least some of our boys get good pay checks out of it.

The fact that the launch event has featured numerous live performances by 'Bollywood stars' says it all.
This is about as Zimbabwean as Antum Naqvi

Let's do a forum sweepstake on who will be the first player who ends up banned for match fixing or not reporting an approach based around this tournament

Really interested to see what the quality of overseas will be. I mean its not gonna be Kohli and Shaheen, but is it county-level cricketers, or club-level cricketers?

It will just be some domestic cricketers from Pakistan and Bangladesh which nobody outside of those countries has ever heard of. Maybe the occasional second rate Australian or South African mercenary if we are really lucky.pillowprocter wrote: ↑Fri Apr 14, 2023 8:05 pmReally interested to see what the quality of overseas will be. Got a feeling if it's really for gambling purposes and with the guys involved you might actually see some big names. It will probably only run for like 2 weeks anywaysecretzimbo wrote: ↑Fri Apr 14, 2023 8:11 pmIt will just be some domestic cricketers from Pakistan and Bangladesh which nobody outside of those countries has ever heard of.
