Makoni announces Zim Afro T10

I also see guys like Munyonga and Mumba getting a chance if the selection process is fair.

I don't mind older players playing club competitions if they put in the work. If they work out, stay fit and committed and that their inclusion is also aiding in the development of younger players.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 5:32 amHe’s playing in the Vigne cup - what’s wrong with that? There are many much older players still playing in the Harare league.
However, is Hammy playing cricket or is he serving in his admin role? I highly doubt he is on a rigorous training regime and following it if he is meant to be. He can't have all the roles. He's only taking a spot of a young player who could be using the game time to develop their skill, whilst also being in an admin role making decisions around all these comps. There is a conflict of interest

I don’t think there is, and I don’t think anybody at all is bothered about him playing in the Vigne Cup. In fact I’d imagine most people are pleasedzimbos_05 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 9:16 amI don't mind older players playing club competitions if they put in the work. We're going to have to agree to disagree. There's a clear one to me.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 9:59 am

It’s the Vigne Cup not the World Cup
Re: Makoni announces Zim Afro T10
It could be backyard cricket, I'm still disagreeing.

Well that’s very strange.
Pretty much everybody has spent years wanting older or even retired players to keep playing club cricket

I have no issue with older players playing club cricket. However, there needs to be a standard for it.
Hammy spends half his time sitting on a couch at home, and the other half being the the director - or whatever his role is -of Zim Cricket. He is a decision maker within the setup, and then pads up to play for a team within one of the competitions he should be governing. I don't think any other test nation in the world has a board member that turns out for a domestic/club side.
HMCA is a member association of ZC, which means ZC has an overarching relationship as the National custodians of the game. If he wants to play, that's fine, but then he needs to step down from his role as a director or whatever it is he does within ZC. Otherwise, focus on his ZC role, allow a younger player to play in the club scene and develop, and work hard behind the scenes to develop the domestic set up so these kids can be successful.
I've nothing against him taking an active role in club cricket, but he can do so in a coaching/organisational/developmental/structural capacity. It's not Sunday league, it's a proper development pathway.

The Vigne Cup isn’t organised by Hamilton or ZC

I still stand by my points in the broader sense. I think it's fair to have differing opinions. Not an argument, just difference of opinion.
