Rhinos will only miss Burl for national call up when they play each other. They're likely to beat a depleted Eagles side.
Interesting that Curran is now at 5.

Nope. Think he played a bit of the NPL t20 the year before last. But last 'official' domestic one was in 2019.
Re: Pro50 Championship 2023-24
He played for the Harare side in the Zim domestic t10 last year or we not counting that? Harare Kings was it? Honestly can’t remember.

Fair enough I'm exaggerating a bit with Tuskers - both Chari and Nkosana Mpofu have kept wicket before (although even 'part-time' would be a generous decription!)CalZim wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 6:18 pmWho are the 3? And Rhinos have an overseas keeper currently running drinks into the field as 12th man.
Rhinos only brought that keeper in because they had nobody else whilst mavayo was away. This is exactly what the Eagles should have done.
The Mountaineers have a few in Moor, Magodo, Gumbie and wasn't Schadendorf a keeper?
Rocks have Tsiga and Mutumbami.
The only person that would potentially move out of those players is Magodo but he is getting games for the mountaineers so why would he?
Unfortunately the Eagles will have to persist with Cunnigham, unless a young guy comes through or they go offshore.

Yeah Mountaineers have 4 - Dane Schadendorf is very much a keeper and is pretty good from what I remember of his keeping. Magodo looks tidy with the gloves as well. Does PJ still keep wicket in Ireland?
As for Eagles, well Masunda isn't the best keeper in the world but at least he can score a couple of runs occasionally. Probably a better bet than Cunningham. They could give Lennox Chando from Gladiators a chance, he had a really good NPL with bat and gloves.
Or the obvious signings for them would be Magodo or Tsiga.
I guess Marumani could try to keep wicket when he's back, although his injury is quite a bad one seemingly.

So if he hasn't played any domestic cricket, but has played on a few T20 circuits, the reality is he probably hasn't played that many games over the last few years.
He's managed himself very well.
The fact that the seniors avoid domestic games tells a story.
Here's the most important thing- they don't hold much store in the games. They play when they feel they need some middle time. That's because these teams and staff have been shuffled around so many times they're basically pick up sides that don't really represent anything, they're not really playing for anything. Most of the players have little connection with whatever province they represent that season, there are exceptions of course.
It's the same issue at club level. If players don't worry about turning out for their club or province its a major problem and something very difficult to get back. The promise of prize money or the threat of relegation helps people focus.
Somehow value and relevance has to be put back into these games. Guys are playing for personal stats by and large.
You have to play team sport with a group of people you believe in.
The second issue is they clearly think that the standard is so far removed from international standard that they don't see the benefit. It has a little bit of merit, but its also downright lazy of them. They're forgetting where they came from. It's not something to get out of, it's something to remain a part of. How can you become better than a system that created you? This way they remain part of the problem instead of becoming part of the solution.
Here endeth the lesson.

They also think they can get away with less volume. I'm not sure about that. Game time is game time.
Williams seems to be the only guy who's managed to pitch up and perform after long absences, but maybe he'd be even better if he played more often.
