But yeah, on a serious note what kriterion says is true tbf. My grandfather is easily past 90. Birth certificate says he's chilling at 82. You go to rural communities all across Asia and Africa, it's the same story to this day. Can't forget those Nigerian and Congolese guys lying about their ages in every FIFA age bracket event.

Hey ranks ahead of India and Pakistan on a lot of development metrics, especially those regarding women because Bangladesh is more secular than either India or Pakistan. But the comparison I made was with Afghanistan.Crastle_cog wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 10:14 pmBold of you to slip in amar shonar bangla land in the first world category by a certain metric hoping we wouldn't notice![]()

I've just seen a usual suspect, replying to an Irish social media post with something along the lines of 'cumball monkmillen need play for zim senior team will b next kohli and with matthew skotcken next shane warm' and I've had to use every ounce of restraint in my being to refrain from launching my phone into the next fucking millenium.

I should make a few points of clarification here:secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 3:58 pmAccusing some kids, who you don't know, have never met, and have never watched play, of 'lacking desire to improve' is pretty rude to be honest. They are kids doing their best. Try not to be a dick to them?
1) This was not directed solely at the U19s. This was directed at the players as a whole. True, the U-19s get included in that, and that is perhaps harsh, being a warm up match after all. Perhaps I should wait till the tournament proper. My bad.
2) But the criteria you've listed - apart from age - doesn't hold water. I'll use two nearly unanimously ridiculed cricketers on ZCF to prove my point. Would you have said the same if I said that Brian Chari or Timycen Maruma lacked ability and or "lacked the desire to improve"? According to the criteria above, you must because I don't know either of them, have never met them, and while I have seen them play a bit, they are adults also doing their best. But the fact remains than the ZCF forum has praised or at worst been neutral about many players who aren't significantly better than Chari. Prince Mausuvare and Kaitano are just two guys off the top of my head who've gotten a lot more support than a Chari, despite not having any significantly better performances.

Something will only change when Afghanistan win a final against England or Australia and you have kids crying.
Then there will be an investigation and uproar. It’s such a simple fix, they do bone testing now in other sports. Apparently it’s very accurate. If the iCC wanted to they would but it’s a common thing in the area where the sport is most popular.

There has to be a goat test.
These guys know exactly how old they are. It triggers me every time.
Ya they just need to beat one of the Big 3 and there will be a problem for them.

They might not know what day of the week or month their birthday is, I accept that. But they know they aren’t 15 or whatever
Call it what it is, It’s blatant deliberate cheating. They aren’t the only ones either - probably the other subcontinent teams as well to an extent but Afghanistan really do take it to the extreme.

This is modern day, you know exactly what day you were born. Probably a pic on a phone for posterity's sake.
