selections

Post by jimbo »

Judging by some of the baffling decisions made by selectors in recent months ( coventry opening in world cup) to name but one it woudnt suprise me if they picked someone like chibhabha to open with sibanda in the test match? does anyone see any wild card selections for the test match?

They will choose Friday Kasteni to open, Stuart Matsikenyeri to 'anchor' the middle order from the pavilion, and Tafadzwa Kamungozi to be the leading spinner.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

I would perfer Tino to Raza. Raza is hardly good enough to play one day cricket let alone test cricket

duffin is a must , if not i would prefer taylor than anyone , if mawayo or raza open taylor will be pretty much opening every game because we will be 2 for nothing. it should be vusi and duffin and mazzy at 3 , thats the best way to go i am sure of it

Take the mickey out of Matsi all you like, he could do a good job for us in the middle. Is a steady head, has played tests before and is a respected old head who could mentor the younger players.

I am not saying he should play, although making him a part of the set up makes sense, but you cannot just diss one of our legends over the last ten years.
A talented batsman but a modest, hardworking character, Stuart Matsikenyeri is the third of three school friends from Churchill Boys High School, Harare to represent Zimbabwe in international cricket. - Cricinfo.

As I speak he's trying to prove he can rein his attacking instincts, 16 off 43 balls - but that's only on par with the starts Mawoyo got in the first match vs Australia A. But with Mawoyo now out of the reckoning, and bereft of other options, he might get in the team on the back of a single 50.

Has he ever opened in first class cricket before?
