Zimbabwe Test Squad for England Test
Re: Zimbabwe Test Squad for England Test
Raza is one of our best six batsmen so of course he should be selected. He is also our best spin bowler, he is going to be more useful than picking a specialist spinner.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Some average selections in my opinion, missed a trick in playing Brad Evans. I know he has been under done but he would make us such a more well balanced side. This would be my 11 and 12th man I would have selected if it was down to me. Let me know your thoughts

1. Bennett
2. Curran

This. It's straight forward for me.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 8:24 pmPeople need to get off their high horses and all this moral bullshit about which games he has or hasnt played.
We are going to get fucking trounced, we need to pick our best XI. Raza is obviously in our best XI, for multiple reasons.
Just pick the strongest players. It’s not hard.
I selection of Wasakadza boggles the mind. I would have gone with a seam bowling all rounder. Is Matigimu injured?
Pity talks with Higgins fell through. He would have been perfect for that number seven spot, with Tsiga at 8.
My XI for this:
Curran
Bennett
Welch
Williams
Ervine (c)
Raza
Wes
Tsiga (wk)
Ngarava
Muzarabani
Nyauchi

Re: Zimbabwe Test Squad for England Test
Playing only 3 seamers against a strong English batting lineup on a pitch that won't suit a spinner is asking to exhaust and injure the seamers that do get picked. The selectors will have to sacifice a batsman for the extra seamer. The English could get away with 3 seamers plus Stokes as an allrounder. Zimbabwe don't have that luxury. Should have gone with Matigimu or Evans over Masakadza.

Extending the quota and dropping wez who played his part in winning a test match last week and has also scored three first class tons last season.
How many runs has Wes scored the last 3 tests..

I suspect the England squad was picked ages ago. Maybe for visa purposes? I don't know but it's clear that it was premeditated. I doubt we will play a specialist spinner anyway
Re: Zimbabwe Test Squad for England Test
I think that’s right.
Brining a specialist attacking spinner is a waste of a spot.
